So we prosecute people for crimes against races although races do not exist. Isn't that a bit like the witchcraft trials of the past.

People do single out identifiable groups for intimidation and the government tries to discourage that to maintain order and protect those groups. There is also a political element I'm sure. A cynic might suggest that governments want their immigration policy to run smoothly while silencing the existing population. They also need immigrant votes of course.

In any case, "race" is now a legal term that has no basis in science.

How does immigration disadvantage you?

Completely irrelevant.

What austerity are you experiencing anyway?

Hate crimes, which are not specific to race, are typically aimed at ethnicity and cultural groups rather than races - The key element here lies in the motivation of the offender, rather than any biological definition of the idea of race.

Where as Witch trials were prosecutions of people of a victim who would not pass actus or mens rae, hate crimes are prosecutions of an offender who has already committed a defined crime, but it was motivated by the prejudice within that offender.

Once again, there are few pros for the majority of people but plenty of cons. Why would one want to adapt to disadvantage?
It is illogical.

Because the advantages outweigh the cons. One need only look at the culinary experiences available in the UK, to see that there are definitely reasons to adapt.

Also you surely have to adapt in order to function in society anyhow. No ones saying you should convert to Islam or something, but is there really any adaptation that's required to 'get along and socially' with people of different ethnicity, that you wouldn't normally have to make.

I probably make more effort just to get along with 'mainstream UK society' in terms of changing how I act, dress, behave etc for work, than I do when interacting with Mr Singh who owns and runs the mini-market or Arnop who runs café metro.

The local library is going to be closed, my kids schools are underfunded to the point that they are considering asking for donations from parents and I'm working on a zero hours contract.

I think our mixing with other cultures has made us better people and certainly the choice of food is better but I'm not voting for 600k immigrants coming here a year on that basis.
Other than the superficial, I have experienced no advantage whatsoever that I am convinced of.

Music has got a f*** sight worse.

Music has got a lot worse because of immigration? Blimey...

Other than that:

Contradiction (1): "I think our mixing with other cultures has made us better people"

Contradiction (2)"I have experienced no advantage whatsoever that I am convinced of..."

.

No contradiction.
By people I'm referring to the average. Many were guilty of post empire casual racism and now most are more familiar with other cultures. Not all that new familiarity has been positive I have to say. There are some elements of foreign culture that we could well do without.

And immigration has certainly effected music in Britain. Where have you been?

I get the impression you have this view of urban youths listening to mindless Mumble Rap or Grime. Neither of which have much to do with any form of migration in the last 70 years.

Apologies if I'm wrong. But you're still including Reggae in your statement, which makes you a moron regardless.

And none of this sort of thing happened under Labour I suppose.

You live in a world of party political delusion.

Ummm...that explains the contradiction not a jot...

Where have I been?

Spending years listening to all the great music coming out of here influenced by and in many cases ripped off from 20th century black US jazz and blues...a lot of it first popularised in clubs in London by immigrants!

Not to mention some great UK reggae, jazz and soul talent (Ruby Turner,Beverley Knight,Jazz Jamaica, the "London is the place for me" series of Calypso cd's...et al)
