It's just such a pity that it's necessary to do it so often here to those who want to attribute devious motivations to really straightforward comments. I have commented elsewhere on a variety of suggestions on how to try to bring the underlying problem under control, and had responses which indicate just how complicated and challenging it is. The situation at Manston is an immediate one, which needs action outside of tacking the underlying issue.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Most of them seem to just want free full board until they slip off into the cannabis production industry. How on earth did we let the country fall into such disrepair. Classic left wing manoeuvrer, they have made it almost impossible to deport people because of the HR legislation and the ambulance chasing lawyers leeching off the taxpayer. They then have the nerve to complain about the backlogs.

'More austerity, more division, more decline: Sunak is merely a sequel in a tired Tory franchise'. A wasted 12 years - makes me remember Wilson and the '13 years of tory misrule'. If there is actually a financial shortfall of 40/50 billions wasn't it on their watch, didn't they create it? I am not sure they didn't create it deliberately.

Luckily there was no pandemic or unexpected war to put a drain in the national finances. Would have been helpful if Labour had left any money when they lost power. At last you are consistent in your ideology framing your opinions.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

And talking of austerity my neighbours have all been told they are getting a £500 payment before Christmas I think this is the winter fuel allowance. Great for them even though they don't need it. This is in addition to the £400 they are getting off their fuel bills. Edited by Badger11 (02 Nov 2022 1.48pm)

The tories have created the financial deficit, but it is not the great financial disaster they are claiming they will fix with all the wrong sticks that have failed repeatedly, but which they think they will get credit for and win the next election. There are plenty of ways to close this gap without imposing any hardship and cutting services when you would not think it possible. HS2 is over 100 billions it is unnecessary and the good bits, the add-ons, have been cancelled anyway. One needs only to mention the Home Office a never-ending financial disaster and there are plenty of others that should be paying for this. And the same old measures will further damage the UK with its under-investment low growth and productivity. Growth is like the 'benefits of brexit', the more you press for detail the more disillusioned you become as you realise there just isn't going to be any.

I"m no great fan of sir Keir but he absolutely smasghed Rishi rich today- the facts speak for themselves no matter how good a speaker you are- Rich was squirming at- "the home secretary saying the system is broke-and who to blame? You have been in for 12 years- who can you blame? "classic , but so so easy when the incompetence is there for all to see!

At least he admitted it, didn’t get Sir Keir to come up with any policies
