That lovely lady Angela Eagle was on The Daily Politics today and when asked what she would do to sort the illegal immigration problem she didn't have any ideas. She was also asked how she would plug the hole in the country's finances she didn't have a scooby about that either. It still didn't stop her constantly gobbing off about the Tories though Yvette Cooper has spelt out exactly what has to be done, as if its not blindingly obvious to anyone except a tory minister. The backlog of unprocessed asylum claims has to be cleared and prompt processing of claims targeted, to ensure that the accommodation and Manston's do not happen again, there s no value in people being kept waiting for years to us. The tories are the cannot do party, this is not difficult. Who caused the financial gap, they did, they can pay for it then. I know, fat chance.

Comedy gold. It has been clear and obvious to some of us for years that this situation was going to reach crisis point sooner or later. This, I suspect, is nothing compared to the looming future disaster awaiting us if we don't do something to stop migrant beaching on our shores. When will the blinkered and politically motivated realise that our very existence as a nation is under threat unless we start thinking long term about the outcome of undesirable immigration. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (01 Nov 2022 1.35pm) I hope I'm wrong but I fear that the point of no return, was passed some decades ago, that's what the births data tells me. I'm looking forward to the new census data but fully expect the elites in charge to screw around with it anyway they can. If only someone in the late sixties had warned us of the path our elites had chosen and we had done something about it to change their minds back when it was possible. Oh no no no. Your words " it is becoming untenable " And you have doubled down with " it has reached a crisis point in the last few days ". So your view is that prior to the last few days there was not a crisis. If that was an error then fine, just admit it and move on. You are quick enough to tell others how to behave in your " what I want you to do " posts. You have not addressed the point at all, just tried to make a fog with a word salad. It's ok, I know you it's probably impossible for you to acknowledge a mistake so I won't labour this point after this post. Edited by HKOwen (31 Oct 2022 10.53pm) I am talking only about the processing delays and over crowding in the reception centre, which has accelerated recently. A couple of days ago it looked as though something was about to be done about it but Braverman, trying to deflect attention from her behaviour, seems to be determined to make it worse The longer term issue of how to control the numbers of undocumented economic migrants, and the criminal gangs behind them, and especially those arriving from Albania is separate. and is discussed elsewhere.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

A good chunk of the migrant population will have avoided it anyway.

How would you clear the backlog? Give an amnesty? That would probably be the lefty thinking. Then it would continue to build as more see us as an easy touch. So you process applications promptly, they then have appeal after appeal ( thank you HRA, introduced by Labour). In the meantime applicants are granted temporary admission, as the left believe detention is wrong, and they just disappear Edited by Spiderman (01 Nov 2022 5.51pm)

Simply hire enough case-officers as a task force to clear them up. Only 14,000 claims processed last year that's typical useless tories. Sort it.

(Leaky Sue) Excuses, there's no reason why an efficient processing system should not have been in force from the start.

I bet you will still vote for them notwithstanding.
