Reluctant? No, just otherwise occupied! It seems to have reached a crisis point in the last few days, given the attention it's now receiving. The overcrowding at the reception centre looks to be getting some kind of emergency response today. It was becoming untenable, but now looks as if we might, just about, be able to manage again. I heard on a radio 4 interview earlier that the Home Office have introduced several additional layers of bureaucracy in the last 2 years which has significantly showed down the processing, resulting in 96% of the illegal arrivals in 2021 still remaining unprocessed and being accommodated at our expense. What the motivation for that is remains unclear. As the current surge appears to be from Albania, and Albanians are unlikely to be able to establish refugee status, speeding up their processing ought not be beyond us. Returning them swiftly would discourage others from following and disrupt the criminals behind this. Oh no no no. Your words " it is becoming untenable " And you have doubled down with " it has reached a crisis point in the last few days ". So your view is that prior to the last few days there was not a crisis. If that was an error then fine, just admit it and move on. You are quick enough to tell others how to behave in your " what I want you to do " posts. You have not addressed the point at all, just tried to make a fog with a word salad. It's ok, I know you it's probably impossible for you to acknowledge a mistake so I won't labour this point after this post. Edited by HKOwen (31 Oct 2022 10.53pm)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

It has been clear and obvious to some of us for years that this situation was going to reach crisis point sooner or later. This, I suspect, is nothing compared to the looming future disaster awaiting us if we don't do something to stop migrant beaching on our shores. When will the blinkered and politically motivated realise that our very existence as a nation is under threat unless we start thinking long term about the outcome of undesirable immigration. Edited by Nicholas91 (01 Nov 2022 11.17am) He's already been in "I'm In Over My Head, Get Me Out Of Here" and has overseen Boris's time on "I'm In Intensive Care, Get Me Out Of Here" so this latest was to be expected I suppose. Mind you, he's likely to be voted out so quickly it will be mistaken for a remake of Hancock's Half Hour.

Agreed, while I'm no fan of Hancock, this is stuck up and petty. So an MP has time on his hands to do another job. I'm sure his hard pressed constituents will be happy for him. If he thinks his career is over then why not stand down and let someone else have a go instead of sucking on the taxpayers teat.

The OP has it, incompetence. We have the most incompetent government in the west. I often search, but in vain, for anything, out of pity perhaps, that they might do correctly. But in vain, every day another instance, who knows how many billions they have poured into asylum for example over the last 12 years, to achieve a system 'not fit for purpose' from the lips of their own Home Secretary. And of course they are conditioning us to accept blame for all this, not them, and plug the gaping financial hole they made ourselves.

That lovely lady Angela Eagle was on The Daily Politics today and when asked what she would do to sort the illegal immigration problem she didn't have any ideas. She was also asked how she would plug the hole in the country's finances she didn't have a scooby about that either. It still didn't stop her constantly gobbing off about the Tories though
