If the post was in error that's fine, everyone makes mistakes Edited by HKOwen (31 Oct 2022 12.17am) Reluctant? No, just otherwise occupied! It seems to have reached a crisis point in the last few days, given the attention it's now receiving. The overcrowding at the reception centre looks to be getting some kind of emergency response today. It was becoming untenable, but now looks as if we might, just about, be able to manage again. I heard on a radio 4 interview earlier that the Home Office have introduced several additional layers of bureaucracy in the last 2 years which has significantly showed down the processing, resulting in 96% of the illegal arrivals in 2021 still remaining unprocessed and being accommodated at our expense. What the motivation for that is remains unclear. As the current surge appears to be from Albania, and Albanians are unlikely to be able to establish refugee status, speeding up their processing ought not be beyond us. Returning them swiftly would discourage others from following and disrupt the criminals behind this.

If it was the Russians then they would have every motivation, given her gaffs with them.

The conditions at Manston, a Kent asylum seeker processing centre were caused directly by “car crash” decisions taken deliberately by a Conservative home secretary, one of the party’s own MPs has said. Sir Roger Gale speaking out. Whether its 'leaky Sue' or the previous one, cruelty is not a policy that's going to help, and all the zillions spent only made things worse.

The MSM and Labour MPs suddenly concerned about Braverman and National Security are the same people who completely buried the story about Barry Gardiner accepting £425k from a Chinese spy.

The narrative around Sunak becoming PM was this notion of creating stability. Fine. But why then reinstate a Home Secretary who had just resigned due to a security, albeit supposedly minor/technical breach? Basic politicking nous tells you she will be in the firing line and any notion of somehow creating order from chaos vanishes. I know I am boring, and possibly a little paranoid, but I cannot shake this notion that the Tories want out of Government. Just the act of reinstating Braverman makes little rational sense unless you actually want her to be slaughtered? Make Sunak seem weak straight away and already making bad calls.

The most pressing need is to recruit or assign case-workers and clear the huge backlog which is causing the pressure on accommodation and creates situations like Manston. But no, not to a tory home secretary. After 12 years she is saying the system is broken, really how surprising, and its because of people like her, a Truss like commons performance. The cannot-do society. As for the PM's 'profound economic crisis' did he not in part create it? And doesn't it politically suit him?
