I know it was only an interview , but I was impressed by the first one that Vieira gave to Palace TV. I just watched the interview and I can see that this could be a good appointment. Of course, it could also go very wrong but when I think about the managers that we were linked with, only Nuno gave me total confidence that he would do well here and even then, I would always have the question in my mind about how long he would have stayed at Palace. Dyche would have probably kept us up but not a lot more, Lampard, for me, is like Vieira but with less of an international reputation. You would expect Vieira to say the right things in his first interview but I still liked what he said. It would appear that the youth set up was key to his descision to come and the fact that the team needs a rebuild also seems to appeal to him. Overall, I like to see managers that want to be here long term and build something. If Vieira can do that or at least keep us were we are now, then I will be happy. I hope he's a bit special for us but I hope for a lot of things.

It was PalaceTV so its never going to make him look bad, but certainly looks like he is going to take an interest in the whole club and recruitment. He's clearly a leader and his playing record is enough to inspire anyone.

i can confirm that I have also read this somewhere! And I can confirm I overheard it being spoken of in a local bar by more than one Palace fan who appeared to also mention that it could have been £40m, 50m, or £80m, or none of the above. In fact after several minutes I came to the conclusion that as per the rest of us, no-one has a clue!

Lads NO club ever reveals it's real transfer kitty for fear of being held to ransom. Far better if we put on the 'poor mouth' and wheel and deal a bit eg take a good player we can't afford right now on a loan fee with option to buy like Mateta.

Do you actually read what others post on HOL or are you confusing us with "the few supporters who you have spoken to outside of this forum who you claim are underwhelmed at the appointment of Vieira." For your information HOL (which you may have forgotten are ALL Palace fans) were decidedly underwhelmed at the prospect of hiring Lampard or Dyche and also had reservations about Nuno and Favre No manager will please everyone. Vierira was obviously not first choice and he is a relative novice at top level management. That said, he has a big profile in football and will command respect among players until he does somethng to change that. Let's hope we have a new manager bounce for the opening fixtures because they are very tough. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (07 Jul 2021 12.41pm)
