Palace were set up to play like that from minute one, and it's all looking a bit suspiciously like the end of last season. We'll be in relegation trouble by Xmas and fans will ask how did it come be, we have some good attacking players, why do we cede possession to teams as bad as us? Hodgson is on a downward spiral and I don't think he has anything in the locker to turn it round.
"Hodgson pleased with Eagles defending" - yeah, when plan A is to put the whole team behind the ball from minute one of course you are going to be defending, possession stats are going to be in the low 30%, and attempts on the opposition goal are going to be counted on one hand. Actually none against Chelsea and one against Brighton, a penalty resulting from an obvious dive. Truly pathetic and the writing is on the wall.

I wholeheartedly concur.

At home we have played 3 PL games, scored 3 goals, 1 from the penalty spot. Our possession stats in these games :
Southampton 29%, Everton 42% and against Brighton 34%.

I believe that supporters have had enough, there is only so much we can take.

Sadly. Hodgson needs to go.

The club has invested in some new additions and they must be wondering what is going on.

We were playing Brighton (our historic rivals) and at home although venue means nothing these days with no crowd. Before the game, Hodgson said that Eze has been bought to play!
Eze didnt play, so what is that about? Is it about Brighton??
Brighton are not a great team- they are ok.
Are Brighton better than Palace? No, because, overall we have better players
Why, then are we set up in this way, almost making a statement that we are playing Real Madrid?
I can understand this strategy and tactics against, say, Liverpool or Man City, as they have better players, but this was Brighton!

As a fan going back to the 1970s, this is not pretty, nor is it attractive and to be blunt, it is embarrassing.

Players like Eze, Zaha, Batsman, must be so frustrated with this style of play EVERY game.

After the game, it was clear that Hodgson was satisfied and made comments that we kept going until the end. By conceding possession 100% of the time, we literally invited Brighton to score and even more so, with the substitutions that he made.

Sadly, Hodgson OUT, ........please

I would like Mr. Parish to act now.

Having re read my negative post (which I stand by), it should also be said that Tyrick Mitchell played his heart out, but there were signs of him becoming tired and starting to make errors, because he is young and inexperienced. Why wasn't he substituted, as he has played a lot of games? We don't want him to be burnt out. Other players gave their all, albeit handcuffed in this system like Townsend.

The manager needs to take full responsibility. The players followed instructions.

Thanks for the well wishers regarding my wife. The weekend's football should be about escapism from our everyday worries was my point. It should be about more than a desperate clinging on for survival. Whether you are a ST holder, an armchair supporter, or somewhere in between, once a club gets into your blood you can't just walk away from it. Whether it is Roy, the players or both, they need to dig in right now and give back to the fans. I believe we have a group of players capable of more, but you just increasingly start to feel that perhaps Roy doesn't feel the same way. If he can't change then I hope he steps down rather than it turn ugly, as I think his comments re: Zaha may start to turn the dressing room if Wilf doesn't take too kindly to being accused of not doing enough.

Come on Roy, surprise us.

I keep saying I’d bring Eddie Howe in and move Roy upstairs and in a guidance role. I really struggle with this as I love Roy to bits but yesterday, for me, was frankly horrific. We were at home, against our closest rivals and we just sat back. As soon as he took our Striker off and made us even more defensive (if that was even possible) the writing was on the wall. Should have been 3 subs in my view. Benteke up top to hold it up, PVA for Mitchell, switching Zaha to the left and swapping Eze with Schlupp to play him through the middle.

But it’s all about opinions.

Why would you reward a failing manager with a cushy job? I see your intention is to try and be respectful, and prephaps two years ago we could have asked Roy to help with a managed transition but we are currently on a run of 2 wins in 13.

No manager worth his salt would accept a role in a job where the old manger is still linguring around.

Not sure if Howe is the right man for the job, but we have an estabilished, experienced, and professional group of players. Even if he doesn't succeed, it's very unlikely we'd get relegated with the squad we have. Worth a punt.

Can only agree with you.
As a gesture of respect to Roy,perhaps he should be our Director of Football, assisting and giving advice to any new manager,Eddie Howe, possibly???

My understanding is that Eddie Howe wants a break from football. He is probably enjoying life away from the rigours of football management at his abode near Poole Harbour.

You’re right - it would only be out of respect as Roy doesn’t deserve to be ‘sacked’ but does need to be replaced and perhaps would offer something ‘upstairs.’
I, for example, would never have re-employed Freedman and Roy is worth 10x him (in my opinion).

I doubt if any new manager worth his salt would welcome advice from Mr H about how to defend for 90% of the game and I think, as fans, we would want to see a fresh approach too.

Roy's post match interview said it all really. Nothing really wrong. Nearly got all three points.

Is he really unaware of how awful Palace have become?

Stats can be misleading but the stats for Palace tell the story.

Last season heading up to a home fixture was a very sad experience, I went as I had a season ticket and had paid for it but I'd probably have rather stayed home. The excitement to watch my team on a Saturday is slowly disappearing.

Sitting in the main stand nearer the WH Lane end, I didn't see a Palace goal at my end all year ! May as well have stayed in the bar until the second half.

3 wins in 14 I think it is, off the back of last season from the restart.

1 shot on target from a penalty against Brighton AT HOME is worse than woeful, it's unforgiveable.

I would admit that within those 14 fixtures, there were some tough fixtures but it is just the way we get beat and the performances.

I didn't even celebrate the penalty yesterday. It was a soft decision and we knew what would happen after, so there wasn't much chance of us putting Brighton to the sword.

Neutrals hate to watch us and if you are the opposition manager, you must think we really are sh*te and a team to be patient with and pick off.

I actually feel sorry for Zaha, what must he think?! It is embarrassing and the players must talk about it in training and in the changing room.

We have a squad that is now capable to finish in the top half, IMO.

Roy is now no longer the answer, but I would suggestion the question is who else would we have?

Steve Parish needs to make a decision soon.

We have Fulham next and if we get beat, surely he has to go?

I believe he stated he wanted a break until Christmas. Perhaps it is all set up for him to take over in January?
