The reality is we didn't have a striker last season who could score until Batshuai signed. Once he came in our fortunes changed. He has left. We haven't replaced him. Our current strike force have 3 (maybe 4?) PL goals for Palace between them in the last two years. I have hope Bentenke will turn it around, but we can't rely on unfounded belief. Our defensive solidity was key last season but we haven't replaced our right-back and POTY. Our two first choice centre-backs are struggling with injury. Dann looked way off the pace last season when he came in. Our midfield is the one area where nothing has really changed (aside from losing Sako as an option) and yet this is the one area constantly talked about in rumours. When the manager comes out and publicly states he is short on defenders you can presume there is nothing close to being tied up. The team and his use of subs tomorrow will perhaps give a clue as to how close we are to signings, as managers often use pre-season games as a way to show their feelings (eg Pulis playing Murray at centreback).

I was reading an article last night about the players which are due to excluded to Chelsea's CL squad.

Some big names in there including Michy.

I would not rule out another season long loan.

They cannot sign anyone for a year and have one other striker. Forget Batshuayi.

You are right but do have Giroud and Abraham who Lampard seems to want to give a chance

Not replacing AWB is unacceptable. I can’t see it happening. Itsxmore that the few planned options we had we couldn’t get without going over our intended budget, and that wasn’t skin flint level.

I can see it happening, don't forget we didn't buy a striker when we didn't have one all season.

One can understand the supporters concerns and frustration.

Only 2 weeks to the close of the 'Window' and no replacement for AWB.Uncertaintly over whether Zaha will be departing and in any event there is not a great deal of time to secure a replacement.A forward line of the mis-firing Benteke, injury prone Wickham and Sorloth who hasn't stepped up to the plate in the PL etc etc etc. They read reports of Luca entering the final year of his contract. In the midfield they see McArthur who is in his early 30s and Meyer who hasn't really impressed and might never be effective.

A lack of faith in the club's recruitment and uncertainty as to whether the ownership issue is having an affect on recruitment. In terms of the ownership, Parish has said that the sale of Zaha would make it more challenging to find new investors.

I have spoken to a plethora of supporters and not one is approaching the season with any positivity, indeed doom and gloom abounds.Need a good transfer window to change the mood but many have given up any hope that this will happen.

If we spend some of AWB's money on a halfway decent attacking midfielder similar to what Cabaye brought, and if we keep Zaha, I think we'll be fine this season.

If we add no good players and keep Zaha, I think we'll be in a relegation battle, but likely survive. Similar to last year, but tougher.

If we sell Zaha at this late date, I think we'll be relegated no matter what, and it will be a very ugly season.

All the speculation about ownership sounds extremely ominous. Combined with losing AWB and Zaha, plus almost no serious talk of us buying a player...I think we're in trouble both in terms of staying in the PL and financially.

I hope I'm wrong.

Not that long since we went into a season with one left back, and he had a car crash the week after the transfer window shut.

Ok Guys this week will really hot up expect at least 2 surprise signings by close of the window, we will be fine.

Michy Batshuayi is still a possibility

Castagne also is still on the cards

As soon as I get some further info I will let you know there will also be a couple of squad signings to add a bit of depth.

Given that your last post was completely wrong, I'll take this with a pinch of salt.
