If people actually took the time to really listen to what farage says the guy talks sense.

I think the 'i'm like you' and 'bloke down the pub' stuff is as much a put on and an angle as the other leaders strategies. What I will say though is that I do think he's a much more competent and unflappable politician than Miliband or Cameron. He's an asset to the party there's no doubt about that, and you can't say that about the others.

May well be true; so with the probability that he doesn't win in Thanet and keeps his promise to resign as leader, UKIP will find themselves in the SKIP.

Who will they get to replace him? Someone with a high public profile, experienced TV performer; Christine Hamilton, perhaps?

Over 3,000 posts about UKIP, a party that many of the posters dismiss as unimportant, not a threat, will not get many votes. Why the interest then? Why not post about the likes of TUSC and the Greens who are presumably going to sweep the board due to their wise and considered 'policies'?

I don't know why some people are so shocked that people post about UKIP on a thread titled "UKIP". It's kind of how these boards work, after all.

There is another thread titled "THe Greens" and by all means start one titled "TUSC" if you are so keen to discuss their policies. Alternatively, use the "General Election" thread.

I posted it primarily due to the article title being so bizarre, but you're right of course. In any political party thread, the majority of the posts are going to be 'what's wrong', rather than 'what's right'. Besides I've already said on here that the leader of the greens is something of a disaster and how Miliband's performance last night was pretty dire. As far as this place goes, I'm actually reasonably fairminded.

it may well be that UKIP represent what most of us think, but realistically - would we be any better at running the nation this way?

what i mean is, ideally many of us want this and that, but does it translate well in the wider picture - when has a party ever gone in and totally shaken things up. Things take time, messes need to be cleaned up and it isn't that easy.

Politicians are no more more than puppets and 'yes' people to the higher powers that be - banks and corporations.

Would UKIP stand their ground and piss off the economical world or eventually get their hands twisted and be just another puppet?

I mostly agree with your analysis except the first sentence, which is clearly untrue, given current polling figures put UKIP's support at about 12%.

You're right. As they say, it's easy to say you'll do this and you'll do that if you're never going to get in power anyway.

The best UKIP can hope for is getting the Tories to hold a genuine, transparent referendum on Europe and that's a 'believe it when I see it' situation even if they remain in power. We all know that politicians say and do what they need in the moment and don't care a jot for years down he line.

More than TUSC and the Greens I see. Good name the Green Party, as you must be very green indeed to vote for them.
