I would add to that they are as a group struggling with the intensity of playing so many games in this condensed season.

The injury list is the one table we are clear leaders in. As players age they become more susceptible to injury and we are seeing that now.

Yes, certainly plays a big part in our performances reaching the kind of low witnessed Saturday . And another very good reason to reject the idea that all we need to do , is replace a manager , and all of these problems attendant to our struggles, will disappear .

Awww bless them, poor things, having to run about twice a week. Let's spare a thought for the rugby players who have to haul their battered bodies onto the pitch for another match a week later, or the tennis players who play a 5 setter in 30 degree conditions, only to play again 3 days later. Or even cricketers who have to stand out in the field all day long under a hot baking sun...

If you and I met over a tipple or two I believe we would be like a pair of 'Nodding donkeys' as we discuss our current plight.

The scenario could unfold whereby we survive in the PL yet again under Hodgson, he has no plans to retire and the 'Board' decide that a tried and trusted manager should continue with his experience vital at a time of evolution.

Evolving into what though?

Evolution in terms of a player 'Revolving door'.

Brighton wanted a change from Chris Hughton who admits himself he is not the most expansive coach.
They acquired Potter of course and they play more attractive football under him, but in his first season (Last season) their 'Net Spend' was about £65 Mill.

And yet Hodgson seemingly plays players into the ground rather than managing a squad through the season to avoid injuries through fatigue or due to age. Of course he bangs on about his best 11 and his reluctance to deviate from this. But if it's costing you avoidable injuries surely it warrants a different approach?

I for one have never suggested that replacing Hodgson alone would be a panacea for our miscellaneous problems.
But our form in the last year has been of real concern. We are not even showing the defensive organisation that Hodgson built his reputation on.His selections and tactics continually leave us overrun in midfield. He accepts defeats when we fall behind.
That's surely not the prototype of a manager that's required for the future.
There is a plan in hand to bring in younger players with potential and we have started that process.
We are starting to sign up the players we wish to retain such as Guiata, Jairo and reportedly Mitchell.
All positive and it would be beneficial to have a forward thinking manager not stuck in the 70s wedded to outdated tactics that are not really working in any event.

Willo is Hodgson’s biggest fan and has previously set out succinctly the tactics employed successfully by Hodgson in the past I.e shape above everything and closing gaps for the opposition to exploit.
This involves sitting deep and is not physically demanding on our older players.
Either Hodgson’s abandoned this and we look at all sea or the players are not following instructions, in which case he should drop them.
In either scenario the buck stops with the manager.

Good item by Martin Samuel in his Daily Mail column today headed: 'Let the Roy story end in harmony.

I've got no idea how to reproduce it here, but basically he's saying that we won't be relegated so no need to bring in a new manager until the end of the season. A lot of us on here agree with that view I know.

It's worth a read if you get an opportunity and he ends it with: 'To sack him would be crass and unnecessary', which says he it all I think.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Sounds the sensible plan ,but how confident is everyone that we won't get relegated with Roy in charge this season ? Can think the only reason Parrish will stick with Roy is because if has a chosen candidate ? And he is not available yet .

It's the same issue for every side. We have a manager that won't make subs and won't drop players.

The number of hamstring injuries we are getting is a serious concern, I doubt it's down to age alone. It suggests a bigger problem with strength and conditioning training.

And Roy's been in charge for 4 years. He's been in the best position to have foreseen and resolved the ageing squad issues.

We need to do more than replace just the manager, but we need someone in charge who will identify, force through, and implement the changes that the club require. Roy's little more than a yes man who's grumbled a couple of times about issues, but the impression I get is that he hasn't been particularly pro-active in resolving them.

I have recognised his achievements at our club on a relative 'Shoestring'.The 'Net spend' during his time has been a mere £10 mill.

The squad is now 'Dad's Army' and the fact that we have 15 outfield players either 30 or in their 30s I suspect is down to finances.
The 'Hodgson Way" has kept us in the PL season on season with a limited spend so his objective has been met.
