Well let’s hope this is an indication of the new managers intention to play with tricky wide players who will deliver crosses for CB to feed off.
Honestly, I would have preferred a striker who scores more than the poultry return we’ve had from CB over the term of a very pricey contract. However, it is nIce to see any player so settled at the club that he wants to stay (hopefully not a totally money oriented decision) - that commitment is important.
If he’s to improve his scoring (and let’s face it that is his main role) we have to play to his strengths.

Yeah, he's been a right turkey

Good news imo and fingers crossed he'll continue his recent form..
Much of this will depend on whether we continue to cross the ball into the box like we noticeably improved in the last 10 or so games (Schlupp's return also helped with this and Townsend's improvement).

Hopefully he'll get some game time through the euros (please watch out for your Achilles though Christian).

Maybe this is the beginning of a steady flow of announcements from the club and we'll start to see the direction we're going in.

Totally agree! A class player and I am VERY happy to have him at Selhurst for another 2 seasons. His hold up and lay off play is class. We are a better team when he plays. If people can’t see that, what are they watching????

His goal tally for a couple of years was bad because he had injuries and got little opportunity. He is now fit and confident and scoring for fun, he is back!!!

Ok, I think, based on his current form, when he has been a handful. I hope, however, he didn't 'push it' by demanding an increase! Nice words by the Club, but that's only half the story, isn't it? Good to see confidence back, but there was a very lengthy period when many fans felt he'd lost it for good and, without exaggeration, he couldn't hit a barn door at 10 yards! I know the Benteke I prefer. It has to be said there's a fair argument that he hasn't had anything like the service he used to thrive on.

Well surely that means the new manager has already been appointed but has yet to be announced. Otherwise why would you offer a contract to a player who the new guy might want to get rid of?

regardless of the new manager, having our settled 1st Team squad available is important for any new manager coming in. Having Benteke - one of our highest Profile names - available for selection is only going to benefit a new man coming in, especially during a the transition to the new mans style.

I don't think any contract extensions to these 'type' of players can necessarily be linked to any managerial appointment.

Anyone know what the terms were ? i.e. has he taken a paycut?

Not necessarily, it’s good business sense. He was free to walk away in 4 weeks. Giving him a contract means, if he is sold we get a fee for him.
Also, he is near back to his best and our best forward.

2 year extension for Benteke - Interesting.

Personally, I don't this is warranted and only seemed to turn it on one his contract was running down. Are we back to the usual Benteke come the new season ?

Two possible indicators here though :-

1. Giving Benteke a new contract means not having to replace him - an indication of the lack of funds again ?

2. His style of play would suit Dyche as the manager. Can't see people like Nuno, Howe, Lampard going for such a striker

So if point 1 is true then it certainly leads to point 2.

The coming season will tell us if this worked or not.

Benteke is certainly a striker that any incoming manager would like having as an option.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out that if you cross the ball to the best header in the league, he’ll score goals. God knows why it took Roy so long to work that out last season.

Delighted we’ve got him for two more years, his form of late has been excellent. More crosses = more goals. He’ll get about 15 next season

After the finish he had last season there's every hope that he's a born again Christian

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.
