Worrying things coming out of Twitter/X this morning about terms being agreed, Olise wants to return to Chelsea, Chelsea close to an agreement with us etc. Way too much chatter about it for my liking and if I see a Fabrizio Romano tweet about it today, I may cry.

Well, there's no Palace stuff on his Instagram page either and I'm certain there was a week ago. I'm starting to think Chelsea have tried to unsettle him in the hope they can push through a lowball bid, Palace have told them to do one (as there's no release clause) and that's why the Hall deal hasn't gone through and why everything has ground to a halt ending with Olise getting upset and deleting his social media content. All conjecture of course, but would make sense. This popped up bout half hour ago on newsnow, those of you that use social media will know if this is his/true . . . [Link]
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Michael,please don't go there's a good chap.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Continuing the unfounded speculation...there were rumours that his clause is that if a top club makes an approach he is made aware. It may even be it allows him to speak to said club. However, it may be that there is no actual release clause, hence no deal so far. Returning to the fact that he has deleted his Palace content from social media this does suggest either Chelsea aren't meeting a release clause (and Palace won't negotiate below it) or there is no release clause and Parish is playing hardball. He is only 21. He's already a PL regular and a French U21 international and seems to have a bond with Eze. Hopefully if he isn't allowed to leave then he works harder to prove to the top clubs that he's worth paying what Parish demands.

I think it wouldnt be a disaster if Olise went for, say, 45m, as long as we have time to replace, the two players i wouldn't sell Eze or Andersen, i think they are irreplaceable, Eze contract until 25, Andersen 26, Doucoure 27, i think we need to tie down Eze, if pos, i think everyone else is replaceable.

Don't think we should sell Eze then?

Can’t help thinking all of the above will need to become replaceable . It seems inevitable , as the big money ,is allowed ,can ,and will sweep up every thing that shows anything approaching international quality., in particular for the top international sides.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Eze played his best football last season when Olise was next to him. On Saturday he wasn't quite at it. Ayew played really well on the right but I don't think he links with Eze in the same way. We'll probably survive without Olise, but we're a lot stronger with him. Maybe Eze's brother can step up!!

I do disagree with you here. I know you judge Ebs to be the diamond in the crown but for me it is, without doubt, Olise that deserves that accolade. His vision, magical left foot and the fact that he's only 21 are incredible. The figure of 45m would be an insult imo because it is he, barring major injury or mishap, that will go on to prove that he is a top, top player. If we had to let him go, it should not be for anything south of 70m at this stage in his career. I agree about Joachim. I'd rather see Guehi go than Andersen. Edited by Glazier#1 (15 Aug 2023 1.23pm)
