It's just not entertainment we are serving up.We are just grinding out results on the back of dire, unattractive football with the sole objective of staying in the PL. I suspect that many supporters have reached the stage when they simply do not look forward to a home game and I am in this category. When I drive from the south coast I question my sanity and wonder why on earth I am subjecting myself to such trauma given I have the long journey back after witnessing utter dross. But,in the final analysis if we survive we will all be grateful and filled with glee accepting that the end justified the means. Suffice to say with the same ownership and management team in situ next season we can expect more of the same. Edited by Willo (24 Jan 2020 9.21am) That's the problem being a fan - you can't keep away. it's like a drug. Hate what's happening but can't give it up.

I've always defended Roy from what I have viewed as unfair criticism while also acknowledging that the football on offer lacks flair and excitement. I'm not going to rehash all that debate, but someone mentioned succession planning on here. It's not something that clubs do very often or that works out as planned. But if Roy decided to retire this summer then what kind of manager would Steve Parish be looking for ? The last time he tried radical change it spectacularly failed so somebody along the same lines as Hodgson is my guess. Chris Hughton's available....

Or, quite possibly it might be Dougie I personally suspect. He is from quite a similar mould to Roy and has probably gained quite a lot from working with him.

Of course, I've gone totally off thread now. We've probably analysed the Soton game to death. Tome to move on?

There is more than 1 way to win a football game and if you score more goals than your opposition you deserve to win. Could not agree more. There can be nobody who saw Burnley beat Manure the other night with so called less possession who did not think they deserved it. As you say there are many ways to win a football match but at the end of the day the winning of the match is the most important thing .
