I am very happy about it. The bigger a barrier we place between ourselves and Russia the better. The more countries that are bought into the European family the better our security will be. Their increasing prosperity will bring us new markets. Co-operation and common goals are always better than conflicts and disparate visions. We will maintain higher standards together and negotiate better trade deals from strength. Standing up to the USA under Trump is so much more easily done as part of the EU than not. Don't anyone be fooled by Trump's "offer" to us. He want's us out and then for the EU to implode so the USA can start to milk the European countries, for instance on drug prices. He won't be doing us any favours. He will start on us. Or we get dragged into a war because we have to support one of Russia's neighbours who are being threatened because of their ties to the EU. As for economics I'm all for co-operation and trade links etc. I am not in favour of bailing out other countries at are expense. I very much doubt any of the countries mentioned will be net contributors to the EU budget for quite a while which means someone else has to foot the bill.

I suspect there is going to be volatility in both the markets and polls as the campaigns unfold. Possibly. A lot can happen in 6 or 7 weeks. On the surface though, unless Farage throws a spanner in the works, it's Boris' to lose.

It's not a "bail out". It's an investment. Helping any country to develop and prosper is ultimately in everyone's interests, apart from being a human responsibility. It is also very much in our local interests to have successful democracies on our eastern flank.

So the Tories have now unveiled more money for people on benefits and state pension. This is on top of more money for the NHS and the police amongst other announcements. Yup that Boris is definitely a swivel eyed right wing fanatic. Of course Labour denounce this as a cynical bribe to the voters whilst unveiling their own spending plans which some might say are a "cynical bribe to the voters". Whatever else Boris is if you look at his record apart from Brexit he is a middle of the road one nation Tory. Meanwhile Jezza is staging a bit of a come back as the Tory lead starts to slip this is not surprising as it was so large that was bound to happen. As I have said previously it's not the overall percentage lead that will matter its the key marginals and how much tactical voting has an impact that will win the election. Still all to play for.

Meanwhile in Scotland Wee Jimmy Cranky is ramping up the "braveheart" vote. It's a pity that this will be the dominant issue in Scotland rather than the SNP's appalling record in government. I can fully understand a Scots person who wants independence but doesn't want the SNP. The SNP have been "getting away with it" for years as the electorate up there don't seem too bothered that the SNP couldn't run a corner shop. I like the Scots but part of me wants them to get independence because they will screw it up and then have to come back to the rest of us with a begging bowl. "We want our independence we are tired of being dictated to by a remote and uncaring government in London. So we want to be run by an even more remote and uncaring government in Brussels or is it Berlin I forget."

No it is Edinburgh their seat of government and just like any country in the EU or out they should run themselves. How anybody can possibly want to be run by Westminster is beyond me. Have to let them go, and Northern Ireland getting closer to a united Ireland according to the polls. If we want to commit national suicide we can hardly blame them for wanting out.
