Its also noteworthy, that Chomsky, whilst often portrayed as being very left wing, as actually opposed to authoritarianism primarily, and frames his criticism of capitalism, not on the idea of capitalism, but the fact that around 80% of the population are divorced from involvement in economic decisions, and that within the US, the Democratic and Republican party, simply represent business interests. I always regarded him more of a slightly left of centre anti-authoritarian. The fact that Chomsky, who is anti-government manipulation of the masses, is portrayed by many as a rabid leftie is illuminating. I didn't realise that it was left wing to want to be free of state control and manipulation. According to many on here, the left is all about state control isn't it? Chomsky tells it like it is. No wonder he's regarded as a (dangerous?) radical.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

A great article Bert, probably more suited to your eponymous thread. It's strange how media stories disappeared after key events like elections. Perhaps some of the more enlightened posters can counter this as I'm always happy to be corrected. Edited by nickgusset (03 Jun 2016 11.06pm)

Simple question - how do you criticise the apartheid state of Israel and NOT get accused of anti-semitism? By the way the description of Israel as an apartheid state comes from former US President Carter...

Have a problem with Israel & it's politics by all means (many Jewish people do) but it's pretty easy to distinguish that your problem is with Israel & not the Jewish people as a whole.

Edited by EagleEyedAlbert (04 Jun 2016 1.01am) I agree, but you will always get those that shout anti semite (even if they are wrong) if Israel government policy is criticized.

If you wish to continue burying your head in the sand about this, please do so. But please don't continue to state that this is a simple politics and an attempt to create a storm to win votes. There are plenty of comments that have been reported which are bang out of order. Labour needs to sort that out not excuse it.
