I prefer the option of signing him on lower wages, less risky imo especially as we need any funds we have for strengthening the squad in other pressing areas of need. The reality is, for every striker who makes it in the PL there are a dozen who don't. So long as he isn't going to be on 100k+ still then surely we have to offer him at least a one-year extension, unless there are doubts from within as to his motivations? Personally I don't think he wants to leave London unless he has to as he has business beyond football in the capital and he has never agitated for a move, so if we make him a reasonable offer I think he'll stay. Having rediscovered his form, if we don't make him an offer he'll get plenty elsewhere, probably including from within the PL.

I don’t believe for a second that Benteke’s current form has anything to do with his contract being up and wanting a new one. The chap went through an awful patch of form but it certainly wasn’t down to him not wanting to do well. I hope he stays.

If we do offer him a new contract, tell him that his improved form has been noted, and the zero from the 130k previously earned has been taken away and the offer of 13k is on the table. The zero is for what he has done the last 3 seasons.

He was trying to miss all those sitters and he actively chose to be low on confidence I wonder if having Eze playing in a relatively similar role to Puncheon has helped?

Yes, and i have it from a source very in the know at selhurst park, (who has never let me down before), that benny wasn"t in fact injured at all, just wanted six months off to drink heavy every night, stuff his face, watching films!Apparently he has a private jet parked up at biggin hill and went every weekend to Monte carlo,Barcelona and Dubai with his mrs, only decided to come back as he was bored of partying!

Roy seemed to suggest he’s been trying too hard! It’s nice to see Roys unwavering faith in him repaid recently- But whatever the reason for his improvement over the last 6/7 games it’s been very welcome to see him bullishly charging around like he used to for the Villa.
