Double standard: noun: double standard; plural noun: double standards Do you condemn Obama's actions on DACA? Yes. I am not a total sycophant, as you are of trump. Nor am I a partisan bigot. I can accept when past presidents did wrong. On the whole I think Obama did a lot well but made plenty of mistakes. You won’t find me saying Obama was the best president in the history of the world. The good thing about Obama, was that he didn’t utterly and completely disgrace the office of the president each and every day.

The NRA are certainly a powerful lobby group still they represent a strong body of opinion in the US. The situation over guns is a complicated issue. The distance between republicans and democrats is already ridiculously wide and if and when the Democrats come back into power it has the potential for serious tears in that already loose hanging fabric.

I see that Trump has given Boris a ringing endorsement as a potential Prime Minister. Is that the kiss of death for Boris?

In other words, the ones who are ok with being losers and having a Corbyn government. The same types who thought May was a good idea as PM. Edited by Stirlingsays (01 Jun 2019 9.27am)

And yes, the worry for many conservatives is that this sets a dangerous precedent for when a Democrat becomes president. However, I have also heard many conservatives are arguing that the southern border IS a National Emergency due to the huge numbers trying to cross. And if Congress is always in deadlock... Trump a disgrace to the office? Pure subjectivity. Trump has been more effective than Obama. Fact. He's done more for blacks than Obama did in two terms, with jobs and the bipartisan First Step Act. Frankly if you think Boris is an effective conservative then you probably think the same of people like Trump. The bigger question is does anyone take any notice of the verbal diarrhea that seeps out of Trump on a daily basis. He also called prince Harry’s wife nasty in the same interview in the good old Sun newspaper. Lunch with Harry and his old dear should be an absolute hoot.
