I can’t blame Roy for the Olise injury if the medical staff had pronounced him fit. I can blame him for our shocking inability to defend anything over head height. Quite how our two centre backs are worth £50M each I don’t know. If Mitchell cannot defend the far post he should be shown the door.
Hughes knows he is on his way out and played like it yesterday. Ayew , bless him, works his socks off but hardly ever creates anything unless winning a free kick, which we squander , falls into that category. Schlupp creates nothing and is finishing nothing. Franca is miles from being a Premier League player.
At least Wharton and Ahamada looked ok and Lerma better than he has been of late and Mateta is definitely an Eagle.
Roy’s preference for Henderson over Johnson is beyond my understanding.
The spotty and belligerent youths abusing our players and coaching staff yesterday should go and support the other Pride of South London where they will be better appreciated.
I don’t think the Brighton fans around me enjoyed it that much as we couldn’t give their team a game even though they had half their team out injured.

Messy more like. Runs in circles achieving nothing.

Guehi injured now, Andersen playing crap. Let’s see what Wharton does. Odds on he gets injured.

Looked comfortable on the ball but he did lose it resulting in the third goal

Wharton showed up better in the second half and has a good passing range.
He likes time on the ball which resulted in him getting caught in possession a few times, one of which led to a goal.
He is not a Doucoure and doesn't have his physical presence or stature.
Munoz had a difficult debut with Lamptey causing him problems with his pace.
We didn't see much of him on the ball such was Brighton's domination.
Early days, but I'm not sure either are transformational signings at least in the near term.
Franca looked promising, excellent first touch, wants the ball and a progressive in approach.
He does look a bit lightweight, but this doesn't stop other clubs being rewarded for persevering with youngsters.

Ridiculous. You can’t blame folks for having ambition. If people are upset maybe they actually love the club and want to win? Winning is good by the way. Losing is bad. Losing in a bad way is worse. And when the foe is Brighton, it’s the worst. Ok?

Roy Hodgson said of Wharton: “He showed why we’ve bought him. It was a baptism of fire. He lost the ball in midfield trying to turn with it which led to a third goal, but apart from that, the rest of his performance was good I thought, and he will get better and better.” Passing the blame and singling out a youngster again Roy , not good .

Come on, be fair. If Roy had just said "He showed why we've bought him....."his performance was good", critics would be queuing up to ask "What about his responsibility for the third goal?". Roy gave a balanced answer.

I've just emerged from my pit with a terrible headache after my first beers of 2024 and can't quite comprehend how bad yesterday was.

The decision to risk Olise in that scenario may yet prove to be Roy's worst and final mistake of his tenure. We have three vital games against Chelsea, Everton and Burnley to come and if he misses those as a result of this we can almost write them off.

It comes to something when you are writing games off before kick off but I suspect that the vast majority of us did that yesterday. Was there a single fan who saw that line up and thought anything other than "We're going to lose this".

The problem with putting out negative team selections is that it puts a lot of pressure on you to be good at defending and that side of our game have completely fallen apart.

That's 12 league games without a clean sheet. 11 goals conceded in our last three games. We're only 9 goals behind the total we conceded last season with 15 games left. I could go on.

It's reached a point now where Roy isn't the safe option anymore, in fact you could argue that he's actively damaging us. I would say that his tactics and selections are directly contributing the the absurd number of injuries to key players and his I can only imagine what the young players at the club must be thinking in the current situation it's hardly a great environment to grow.

I hoped that he might be able to get through to the end of the season but we can't gamble on points deductions keeping us up. He needs to go.

Why didnt he single out Henderson for being rooted to the ground like a big f*** off Oak tree for all the goals , while we had a better keeper on the bench .

What a wretched season. Moving into gameweek 24 and in no game have we been comfortable as far as I can see. The defence which has been a strong point in the past now looks a liability and issues in attack still haven't been properly resolved. If things stay the same we might only limp over the line this season, primarily on how poor the promoted teams have been and possible points deduction for other teams. If so, both of these won't save us next season. Hoping that the slide can be halted as I don't wish to be seein us visiting the likes of Ashton Gate (a real graveyard for us in previous years) anytime soon. COYP !!

I wouldn't be surprised or particularly bothered if the idiot(s) holding up banners were barred from attending. Idiots confronting players need to grow up.

None of this will help our cause.

There are some things in football that cannot be managed, and when your two best forward players are constantly injured, there isn't much that can be done. This put pressure on the defence, which is then likely to concede more goals. It also damages confidence.

We have signed two good players and we have to quickly develop a system to grind out results. We need 4 more wins.

Sacking Hodgson is a very risky move. It might work, or it might be disastrous. Who replaces him? Without Eze and Olise, it don't see how we win games with any manager.

We have to get them back on the pitch.
