Palace have had the second fewest shots of any team in the league this year. As another poster has said, we've also put the fewest crosses in. Benteke's only missed three big chances. In comparison, Bats has missed three and he's hardly played, and Lewis Dunk has missed more. Bamford's missed 18. The team as a whole has missed the fewest big chances in the league by miles (19 vs 24 next worst). City, Liverpool & Leeds are the top three because they actually create the chances. . You could argue Benteke could be doing more to create chances, but the entire team clearly isn't pulling their weight. Everyone knows Benteke plays off crosses which we don't provide. We play two wide midfielders who aren't wide midfielders. Unless we're expecting Benteke to bring a goal kick down on his chest, turn the defender and bury it from 30 yards, is the main fault not clearly further back down the pitch? On Ollie Watkins, would he have scored considerably more goals than Benteke this season if he was in a Palace shirt? There's one good strike against Liverpool, everything else is from a couple of yards out after great service and the assists are nothing passes before the goalscorer does it all themselves - [Link]

I think this thread should be re-titled: As so often the subject matter gets obscured by opinions only vaguely connected to the subject. It was ever thus so ...

Let's all be tolerant of each other, its been a difficult year on and off the pitch and I can understand some people getting a bit frustrated especially about the progress or lack of it at CP. However, now that we are almost certainly safe for another year let's all hope that Parish et-al sort out the mess that they have allowed to evolve with contracts at the club and hopefully we can look forward to some new arrivals during the Summer recess

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
