Check out ASPFCs post early in the thread as to why we played with such negative defensive tactics Those tactics were moments away from stealing all 3 points and leaving us in 6th. Get all the good signigs and play with verve and excitement... and you are 3 nil down to spuds in minutes. I am not happy and we were cr@p but people need to take a reality check. Burnley and us - the method of the under resourced. What's funny is how much I was vilified for it. My point was, our team is basically rubbish, bordering on somewhat adequate in places. With less injuries we could certainly be somewhat better.

This says it all.. BBC 'We opted for the siege mentality'
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson, speaking to BBC Sport: "The quality of the defensive performance and effort they put in against a good team. We defended our way almost to a very good three points. It is something that can happen, in the first or the 95th minute - if the opponent have the ball around your area it can fall kindly or get the fortune with a deflection, which I'm sure they would say is fully deserved. "We started to show our teeth at times in the first half. But unfortunately there is always something in a game when you lead 1-0 and the opponent is taking the game to you, there is something that brings a siege mentality to see the game through. Had we got the second goal you would have seen a different mentality, But we decided on the siege mentality and it almost saw us through. "There is a lot more we have to give. We ran into a Brighton team that played well today. We were good enough defensively and with our discipline and spirit to come away with three points but we wouldn't be whooping for joy saying that is all our tactical work solved. Luckily I am now doing it with a group with competition for places." On VAR: "It has been opted for. VAR was opted for. It was seen as better and ruling out clear errors of judgment. As it happens I don't know that there are so many from the on-field officials. It has brought us into a different world where when a goal is scored you wit to see if it will be chalked off. There are always going to degrees after a round of games of managers feeling they were either harshly or less harshly treated."

It’s a question of perception.

We’ll probably draw against Fulham and then our stats will be: W - 2 Roy will then convince SP that it’s a solid start to the season in uncertain times ... which let’s face it, we all would have taken from a points perspective at the beginning of the season. It’s just the turgid manner in how we play and accumulate our points that’s the problem ...

Wasn’t that long ago we were everyone’s fave second team. We’re now the most boring team for neutrals to watch.

Mind you the BBC reporter seemed to be a complete sycophant. He didn't ask any relevant questions.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

We can improve and have done so in the past under Roy although not a lot it has improved enough to be acceptable to most, we must all understand nothing is going to change as all want as that cannot happen until a new manager appears and that is not too far away now, It takes two to tangle and I fear some of our players on this performance today are becoming a little pissed. With Roy at the helm we are stinking the league out. If we get relegated you will here the Prem leagues cheers all over the country. They are trying to sell their product around the world and we are not helping their cause
