I know sometimes it hurts to hear the truth about one's idol.

If I wasn't about ready to go out, I would have expanded on the IRA, the "Before the dawn" book, the refusal to fly the Union flag for the Queen's silver jubilee, the key-role in a lefty 'Rag' that insulted the Queen, his connection with hard-left 'Rag' "London Labour Briefing" etc etc etc.

And if I wanted to, I could also go scurrying around the Internet to find sites which denigrate Labour and praise the Conservatives.Almost a full time job for some on here !

Britain has been the victim via the Romans and had it's hierarchy replaced by the Normans. During the colonial period, Britain was one of a number of European countries competing for resources and territory. Had we failed to play that game we would have been at the mercy of the others. You can't look at history in isolation or use it as an apology for acts of aggression against people who had nothing to do with the past. Britain has made errors in foreign policy for sure but as a British subject, I stand by it's mistakes as well as it's successes. Give me a break. Colonialism is an inevitable consequence of one culture being superior in technology to another.It has been going on since humans existed.

Like the mindless oafs vandalising Conservative campaign posters which I'm sure you found a tremendous hoot.

For a party so keen on peace, love, equality etc, there really does seem to be a lot of pent up hated in its ranks.
