He has been poor this season and hasn’t looked anything like the player who first joined.
I know some have said he misses not having Cabaye or a Cabaye type player beside him.
He has looked very one paced recently and I’m sure this contributes to that amount of free kicks he concedes and bookings he receives.
Like many on here, I’m bemused by his poor free kicks and corners.
Oddly enough though when Cabaye was with us he chipped a fair few into the opposition keeper’s hands when he was on set piece duty.
Just doesn’t seem an area we work on.

Luka wouldn't be anywhere nearly as highly revered if you took away all his penalties.

Riedewald would be much better in his position, if only for his ability to make an accurate and cutting forward pass.

Shame; I remember when Luka used to play the odd brilliant cross-field, forward pass. Haven't seen one of those for ages from him.

He played a 40 yard Crossfield ball to Wilf on Saturday. Pay attention please.

He plays every game and hardly ever gets subbed off.
Could be fatigue?

Also, individual skill is something ignored by our manager.

You’re right, he used to ping some absolute bullets low and cross-field in his first few moths but hasn’t played such a ball for donkeys years, no doubt at the instruction of the manager/coaching team.

No disrespect as I know they try their best but our three midfielders seem to do the job of two ..

In all aspects of everything.. I can’t see another reason for one striker limitation and no creativity or enough goals.

Without looking I guess Kouyaté is top scorer of midfielders..?

Yes and no - as always he’s work in front of the back four was as good as always. As for passing forward / creative work that was awful. That’s why the other midfield players need to be creative and they just aren’t. That’s why our forwards suffer. Luka does his job and is as good as ever, it’s those alongside him that don’t do their jobs. Or perhaps it’s more Hodgson who won’t play the correct type of players to complement Luka in midfield?

We conceded three goals... none of them related to the defensive cover he provides?

Maybe Hidgson realises Luka needs help as his screen isn’t the most effective unless he fouls..

Basic average baller who needs Kaka and Scholes next to him (we ain’t got that) , sooner he gets banned again sooner we can parachute a player in who is not a liability (JR) when it comes to passing a football and Jimmy Mc can play the screen like he did few games back.

Quite important skill when playing foot ball that passing lark I always thought.

The screen is a 1990’s footballer. Tell me one player who does JUST that role effectively now in the prem..

agreed...he will be a scapegoat because his job goes unnoticed
