Well he got where he is today firstly because he inherited the equivalent of billions of dollars - and if you use the S&P as a measure he hasn't added a dollar of value to that which he inherited but that is a separate matter. He doesnt just take on anyone who has a bad word about him though does he? At best he is the type of guy that gets his retaliation in first. He trashes anyone that gets in the way; makes fun of people who are disabled. At heart he is a bully plain and simple. Still that never previously has been an impediment to a career in politics.

What you are describing is a mobster not president of the USA you do need judgement in political life and luck but it will run out? Hanging on to his tax returns seems like he is bringing it all on himself.

You can forget the two-state solution advancing with talks any time soon but look out for major bloodshed over there coming to your TV screens fairly soon. Only to some. c) Voting UKIP and Brexit, for whatever reason, has also meant joining forces with those of the Far Right and you both have earned your pyrrhic victory, especially so with a Hard Brexit. I hope my views are far-fetched, Matthew. I sincerely do.

The press though correct and then apologise if they make a mistake. We all make mistakes. Spinning a story is not the same as telling outright lies, which is what Trump and his team have blatantly done and did again yesterday. Trump tweets aggressive criticism of the security services one week and then blames the press for reporting what he said the next, calling the press even worst names than he called the security services. The man is an idiot, who is a confidence trickster at best, and a dangerous megalomaniac at worst. It is appalling that he managed to fool so many Americans and really puzzling that anyone from the UK cannot see past his very obvious unsuitability for high office. As a reality TV host, or circus ringmaster, he has some merit. He is amusing in a distasteful kind of way. As a President he is a cruel joke. The USA has just given up it's position on the world stage and now we await the outcome. Who fills the vacuum is the dangerous part and will they be challenged?

To me, that starts with the highest authority, taking the high ground and just pointing out the facts. Same as journalists who don't fact check, should be held accountable by their editors. We're now in a situation where people bandy around phrases like 'alt facts' 'Post-truth', when what they mean are 'we're lying b****** scum who regard you the people as f**king idiots'. Democracy cannot survive when the public can have no confidence in the sources of its information. And that has to start with its leaders, and the fourth estate.

Yeah, and that makes him an ideal candidate for the highest political office in the US. Its not like a national leader should possess tact, and a thick skin. Even before being elected he's managed to cause a minor diplomatic fall out with Mexico. He's got to where he is by being a white, rich, privileged guy from the social elite, who has little to no regard as to the feelings of other people. especially women.

Wasn't the anti Trump press caught lying too Kermy? News Reports that said Trump had removed the bust of Martin Luther King from the Oval office? Then said that a CIA officer must have been stood in front of it when proven wrong! It takes two to tango..... The Trump administration seem to be lying a lot. But I suppose the justification will be 'oh they all do it'. That doesn't somehow make it right though does it. I can see America becoming a laughing stock if such blatant bulls***ting continues

Hanging on to his tax returns seems like he is bringing it all on himself. Which presumably will either show he's paid no tax, or that he's no where near as rich as he's made himself out to be. Mobster is probably a reasonable analogy - Although he reminds me more of the pre-Prohibition senators and governors of the US, who were more or less the top level of organised crime in the US.

The furore over the inauguration numbers (both spectators and viewing figures) is worrying. It really doesn't matter how many came and saw his inauguration. It shouldn't make any difference to him. It is easily explainable (poor weather conditions, his supporter bases are further away from DC, the financial problems his supporters face as a result of the Obama administration poor management of the economy mean money is too tight). But to get his spokesperson to lie about it in ways which are so easily disproveable is just odd. And it discredits him. I'm sure some of his core supporters will lap it up. And refuse to believe photographic evidence or officially produced stats. But the majority of Americans won't. And the majority of the Houses won't and will start to distance themselves. He's just a bit of a prat because he is so focused on popularity.

He got inaugurated on Friday afternoon. It's effectively the 2nd working day of his administration and already he's making a difference to US workers by overturning Obama's trade deal. He will see off all his detractors and as he says "Make America Great Again". I bought some USA based funds a while back which are doing nicely and will continue to do so whilst Trump's actions stimulate the US economy. You can moan and bitch about him, ruing the day he replaced Obama but history will record that he will be a more effective President for trade and working conditions for US citizens than Obama ever was.

I quite liked his proposal for increased import tariffs and duties on US companies that have migrated manufacturing and production outside of the US. It might be a bit late, but admirable, if it actually happens (especially if they apply it retrospectively to companies that claim to be American, but have effectively offshored everything).
