As it's been correctly pointed out by 7 mins it would be illegal for the conductors to picket a station. 7 mins also correctly stated that the drivers haven't gone on strike yet. He was again correct in stating you can only have 6 or 7 people on a picket line.

Been keeping an eye on this thread and it's quite clear the only person with any real knowledge and insight is 7 mins. Having a partner who worked for Southern at a management level but not as senior 7 mins I can back up a lot of what he is saying regarding the inner workings of the TOC.

P.S. so every time Matt Himself (or anyone for that matter)loses the plot and abuses someone he has lost the argument?

Here is an RMT picket line at Eastbourne (stunning turnout btw by the 'rock solid' union siblings):

According to a a cursory internet check, the depot at Eastbourne was demolished in the '60s.

It would therefore appear that the RMT are picketing a station as no depot exists in Eastbourne.

Doesn't this highlight that the RMT can picket away from depot's? If it doesn't, then please enlighten me as to what is going on and I will stand corrected.

They are picketing their place of work. The nearest depot is Brighton so they would attend the Eastbourne Terminus to start their shift. Most of the major London Termini have depots allocated to them where conductors would start their shift.

Don't forget the numbers on picket lines are restricted hence the turnout.

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.

Just been informed by she who know best that Eastbourne has depot facilities but in the form of sidings

So why did the RMT picket Victoria:

[Link]

But not London Bridge?

It appears that they can picket terminus. It just backs up the thought that the RMT are spineless and will picket depot's regularly but not regularly, or apparently at all anymore, major London stations.

London Bridge was picketed
One picketer got grassed up using company toilets while on picket line.

Matt... you're not very good at this, your ratio of getting things right is appalling.

I find your naivety heartwarming

Cheers buddy.

I don't want people thinking I'm some moral white knight.
The things I did working for Southern feel me with shame, they're reasons why I carried on working for such a vile company, but none of them excuse the s***ty things we did. The buffet trolley guys we royally f***ed over. The cleaners/gateline/platform staff... cutting numbers and expecting favours in return.
At one lunch time meeting, I remember a manager telling me he was gonna go after a union rep, because this union rep outed this manager as being a prick over health severance for a driver diagnosed with a terminal illness. We didn't believe the driver was as ill as he said, and although he probably couldn't drive trains... maybe he could have helped in the office until he could no longer work. I shiver now... we should have paid up sent him on his way and said enjoy your time with your family.

The franchise system means everything is short term. Why invest in staff, you could be out in 5 years. Morale means nothing, who cares if a driver is pissed off or happy... as long as he drives the train. If he goes sick, make him get a doctors note from day 1 of absence to get paid... knowing full well doctors don't give sick notes until you've been off for 7 days... result... drivers don't get sick pay for first 7 days.
We hated other TOCs giving pay rises... that meant we had to... or we'll lose them. The whole system is wrong, employees get shafted, passengers get a s*** service and a select few become financially secure for life.

Or if you're hoof/Matt "lazy f***ing unions"

You were yellow carded for abuse to Matt.

If I were that way inclined you would have got a yellow card earlier for the unwarranted attack you waged on me for supporting the rail regulator's decision that DOO is safe. But I chose to bite back at you rather than complain to the Mods. Cucking Funt doesn't often get things wrong and he thought your yellow card was "richly deserved".

Your admission above, and in an earlier post that you shafted cleaners etc for £££'s earlier in your career should tell everyone on here the sort of person you are. You don't even seem concerned that the Union's action that you condone will result in misery for many Palace fans this wednesday who wish to attend the Man Utd game FFS.

In 40 years of working in Financial Services, I never shafted anybody nor even had one complaint about the advice I gave to the general public.

I have decided to refrain from further comment on this thread and would appreciate you directing your barbed comments elsewhere, unless you want to follow up that yellow card with a red?

You earlier called me a fraud and said i was lying... so don't rush to the moral high ground just yet my friend.

The difference between you and me, is quite simply knowledge.. I know the reasons for the strike, they are totally justified and the fault lies with Southern... that is based on my knowledge.
You who has no knowledge, says the fault is with the unions.

You are right, I worked for a company that continually shafted it's employees, that is a stick you can undoubtedly beat me with, but I left that job, because it was immoral (i put it on here at the time) I took a massive pay cut 70%, because as we grow, we gain knowledge and humanity (although this seems to have skipped you) and I made the decision to do what is morally right, not financially right. I don't regret my decision, just wish I was smart enough to make it earlier... it wouldn't have made any difference to the employees shafted (they would just get someone else) but it would mean I wouldn't feel as s***ty as I do about being part of the process.

The reason you derail, and mention my work history (which I could have easily have hidden) is because your argument is weak, it's a argument suppressor... You know you're a old silly man, stuck in his ways. You can't see shades of grey/nuances.. someone with superior knowledge than you, scares you... admitting you're wrong is a sign of character.

You said guards are not needed, when you didn't know what they do... that is when I realised I was chatting with someone who is thick.

P.S. Working in financial services isn't the 4th emergency service.
