UK government 'has underestimated takeup for Hong Kong resettlement scheme' - [Link] "Survey finds more than 600,000 may want to move to Britain, many within two years of January start date" Not Brexit specific, though immigration was a driving force behind that of course so this holds some relevance. Given their levels of education, I suspect most will end up in the big cities, not in places like Northern Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Another considerable influx of people mind you. Further implications for housing, the NHS and so on. Though I do take into account that they are well educated and that there is a rationale to us extending a hand.

Therefore higher levels of educated families from Asia and far east and ex commonwealth (like Hong Kong) no instant access from EU, educated or not.

Before lockdown, in fact since he left Uni in 2018, my son applied for numerous jobs in different sectors. Those that bothered to reply wanted “experience”. He obtained a zero contract at Thorpe Park but lost this due to lockdown. He couldn’t even get a job on a farm!

57 trade deals signed so far.
I doubt the SNP will be getting many votes in that sector if they continue with these threats. Edited by Badger11 (13 Dec 2020 9.46am)

Noise now about the EU backing down over this divergence stuff now. Might be too late but let's see.

Anyone who can drive has no excuse not to work now, we have a great platform called uber, no reason why you can"t work as many hours as you want, even drop the kiddies off at school mum and get in a few hours till its time to pick them up- so the advert goes! But i do fear it"s a ready made excuse not to pay somebody out on their luck, get a job with uber, and fcuk owwf !

Overall, agriculture contributed around £24 billion of revenues and around £8.5 billion of Gross Value Added to the UK economy in 2015. In contrast the UK's fishing and fish processing industries contribute £1.4 billion to the UK economy. The UK Music Industry contributes £5.8bn. GVA (gross value added) of the Creative Industries was £71.4 billion in 2012 and accounted for 5.2 per cent of the UK Economy. What is it with fishing? Apparently Warhammer on its own accounts for more value than fishing. Edited by Mapletree (13 Dec 2020 5.47pm)

Thank you. Not sure you qualify for expenses sitting on your settee watching videos but worth a try. When he was applying for jobs, they were interested until they found out he was over 21, so would have to pay him more.

The government has already said that. It was identified as an easy way of drumming up some nationalism. As you say, in economic terms it is completely insignificant. The people who own the quotas will just license them to EU trawlers. Result - no change.
