No Deal is fine as far as I am selfishly concerned.
Boris just needs to have the balls to see it through.
The EU are scared witless at the long term prospect of the UK flourishing - and we will!
Short term will be rocky but it is about time this Country took the " short term pain for long term gain route" in my opinion.
Given the depth of the brown stuff we are in anyway a bit more won't make a lot of difference so bring it on!
Stuff Macron whatever happens - postulating caricature of a man!

Oddly enough I don't really consider myself to be that 'patriotic' in terms of all the flag-waving jingoism stuff. And have zero issues around enjoying all kinds of foreign goods. But for me that is the point of being English. We are a trading nation. Led the way in importing all kinds of different foods, hence why we can happily enjoy an April 23rd celebration of German lager followed by an Indian curry.

Simply put I want choice on our supermarket shevels. And South American steaks are fantastic. World famous. Ditto with New Zealand lamb. Of course England produces top quality produce as well but Brexit is not about us closing down our markets but rather opening them up for a wider choice.

Agreed.

An Englishman is a pragmatist first and a patriot second e.g. we are happy to buy from where ever if it is good value. We only show our patriotism when somebody annoys us.

A Frenchman is a patriot first and a pragmatist second e.g. his wife buys French clothes and perfume he drives a French car. However when they are invaded they quickly do a deal with the enemy to save the country they love.

Throughout our EU membership I have been buying South American and Australian wines.

New Zealand lamb has always been plentiful here.

Typical brexiteer drivel you have only to enter your local supermarket.

Oh indeed. And all about to get much cheaper. Happy days for everybody concerned.

Lets be honest, what is not to like? Cheap Aussie wine AND war with the French as well as all those sweet, delicious Remoaner tears to bathe in?

Brexit. The gift that KEEPS giving!

What's hilarious is to think that the EU can afford to not sell its goods to the UK. Yes, all French wine will be gone - they'd rather pour it down the sink. There will be no VWs, BMWs, Citroëns, yeah of course mate. They will all be fine with half their business gone.

EU exports are only 16% to the UK.

Best short description of the difference between being French and English I’ve seen. Very good.

As normal there is so much rubbish posted on this site.
"feasting on New Zealand lamb and South American beef".
Do you not understand that there will be 48% tariff on exported beef and lamb to the EU? Therefore the govt will need to support our home market and force / entice consumers to stick with home produced produce. In other words, make these foreign imports less attractive. Otherwise the farmers will need huge bailouts from the govt that we all have to pay for.
There needs to be a big drive for Britain First. Imported goods that compete with our own products must be taxed and tariffed accordingly. We cannot allow British jobs to be adversely affected by cheap imports. If that means massive handouts to keep open car factories in the north -east then so be it. The rest of us must pay and should pay as we all voted for this.
Brexit was never an economic decision. It was always a politically motivated vote and decision based on sovereignty and immigration control rather than economics. Some things are more important than money. I mean all this fish nonsense. We hardly eat any fish in the UK other than fish and chips. Its all exported to the EU. The suggestion that the nation is going to start eating expensive fish 3 times week is just a joke.
I would like to see some backbone shown now. As for Farage and his mates - I see they've all f***ed off into the sunset. And I also now understand where Mark Francois has gone - been a naughty boy apparently...

Total yes. In some cases over 50%. So you think the EU can afford to lose 16% of its total sales? Good luck with that.
If an economy loses 16% it's worse than the great depression.
This is where car manufacturers, wine producers, food exporters in Europe have all been lobbying non stop to end the madness. Merkel has listened and wants a deal, Macron is playing hardball. Who will get their way, Merkel and all of the EU businesses or Macron trying to save face before the election?
It's basically not up to the EU, it comes down to the actual elected people in charge of member states. The stumbling block is France and a couple of financial windfalls a couple of the newer states want. That's it. Deal nearly done.
