Benteke played ok today, set up the goal and generally held up play reasonably well. However he fluffed his lines in front of goal yet again, so the big question is can we continue to play with a centre forward who does not score goals? Unfortunately it is not a position where you can hide. You either bury chances at a reasonably high percentage of success, or you don’t and that stat kinda defines a centre forward. I must admit I no longer consider him useless because he has some decent play in him, but as a goal scorer he looks finished. I understand why Roy continues to play him but we desperately require an upgrade.

He’s always come across to me as a bit of a wet flannel. Yesterday was no different although he is definitely improving. His pass to Ayew was exceptional by anybody’s standards. Roy is bound to persist I’ve got a hunch he might start knocking them in again in our remaining games. Especially with his head.

It's not just Benteke that has got worse at finishing, it's the whole team! Players who were previously chipping in with goals (Zaha, mcarthur, the odd defender at set pieces), coupled with the fact mili's set piece quality has declined (except penalties), shows that it's something to do with training. We've scored the least amount of goals in whole of PL, and Benteke is still regularly scoring for Belgium when he plays.

Not to mention the great defensive work, especially at corners, the winning of headers to set up an attack, and the all round team player, now you are over your injury you can get back to the 15 goal Benteke that kept us up to be where we are now, don"t worry about the 50 odd people who will knock you on here on a regular basis, thats life, think of the 25000 in selhurst and the other hundreds of thousands who don"t have a season ticket that don"t and appreciate your all round game,in ex England manager, ex Liverpool champions manager, we trust!

His 2 last games in general has not been bad. Assist yesterday brilliant, but 4 goals in 70 matches for our main striker - simply unheard of!

It was but it was a great ball and an early chance so I was surprised they didn't show it.

If many months of sessions with Sports Psychologists hasn't unlocked some of his prowess then the team are carrying him. However, seems he's playing with a freer head, looser approach, not as pained and tense as recently and actually enjoying his 80 mins on the park. So, things can only get better.

He offers us more than Tosun so I would keep starting him. Tosun last 2 bad misses shows that he is not a player we should be signing.

I'm not sure that you can make such a judgement when we have seen very little of Tosun so far. Benteke has been responsible for a lot more than "2 bad misses". I'd like to see him get a chance from the start so we will truly know what he is capable of.
