But problem escalates if lorry carrying the sandwiches also carrying 10 other types of sandwiches - then all need health certificates. Deal or no deaL, Brexit will be a bureaucratic nightmare. Because we don't have farmers who can provide ham or cheese?

Or Britain could simply decide not to bother with any of that - just say that it will then don't. A bit like how every government and the EU really works. It's not like Ireland is going to actually do anything except moan. We've our own pressing issues: the North is not one of them.

Should it all go pear-shaped and we all know Johnson's record, the government will simply shift the blame. Its’ the same reckless, uncaring attitude that has helped kill 50,000 people in the pandemic. Ironic really that on another thread you Slate HMG for getting expensive PPE which has saved lives.

These problems with paperwork and deliveries are what are called teething problems.

Personally I would go for the ham sandwich with 10 health certificates rather than 2. And probably get food poisoning.

EU beef with full provenance.......last seen breaking down in the 3.20 at Epsom
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

To be honest I think there is a case to be made for us being willing to continue with various protections for the Irish agriculutual produce. We are their biggest market and to put it bluntly, it is not in our short, mid or long term interests to see them impovorished. Their politicians, with notable exceptions, are gobs***es of the highest order and like nothing more than prancing around pretending to be Europeans as opposed to just the West Brits they are but much like the white trash cousins you have to invite to family weddings, we do share enough DNA to mean they need special consideration. Chuck 'em a bone (no pun intended) on issues around meat and so on is my attitude.

Brexit is about the UK taking back our independence not trying to destroy our neighbours.
