i know, we have 2 CBs on the bench in Woods and Kelly. Let's put a Kouyaté on!

Woods isn’t EPL standard and Kelly is not fully fit yet. Only on the bench as an emergency because we have Tomkins & Cahill both out injured.

We can look at today's game and consider that we went into the game missing Cahill and Tomkins in central defence.Sakho then got injured and we had to utilise Kouyate in central defence.

We played a rookie, teenage left-back who was against Traore, a player who can give any full-back a torrid time, and a right-back who is well past his best and struggles at PL level. We brought in Schlupp after his injury and he ran out of steam and Townsend who has also not been starting.Furthermore no Benteke who is the focal point of our attack and provides physicality in forward areas. We have an aged squad who have been asked to play a succession of games in a short period of time.

There were extenuating circumstances of course but the performance was totally abject and embarrassing and follows on from similar displays since the restart.
The squad needs to be freshened up for next season and I am hearing increasing voices that Hodgson is not the manager to take us forward at this time.People who have been supportive of Hodgson have turned but there is a great deal of emotion after such a pathetic display and defeat.Perhaps they will have a different view tomorrow after a good night's slumber!

At least, even if we suffer an 8th straight defeat we will still finish ahead of Brighton this season!

One player due to injury to PWA was on the pitch !

It says '' squad '' not team.

Sorry if the difference was a bit too much for you.

Have you forgotten every place in the Premier League earns millions, the higher CP the more £millions we win.. so why are you saying Nothing to play for?
If he (Roy) felt that why did he not blood new players to give the some premier league experience.
BUT Roy is clueless beyond Plan A.

Streaky season. Are we the team that won 4 in a row or the one that lost 7 in a row? I say we're a 15th-in-the-table team that with good luck can finish 11th-12th next season, and with bad luck can go down.

During the restart we had absolutely nothing to play for, while most of our opponents did. Even Roy didn't have much to play for, given a pair of American owners who probably don't care about anything but avoiding relegation. If they're not willing to pay for some younger, fresher legs, though, down we'll go.

Schlupp is one player who I will happily see the back off. We need a complete squad over haul but we may just get away for one more year with 3 decent signings and a lot of luck with injuries.

Glad we can agree on something. Now when Meyer has played I've seen him bust a gut to get back.

Been looking at some stats, mainly because I'm going to have to work late tonight.

Mayer has stared 7 games, of which we've only lost 2 (both when he played left mid).

That was Schlupps 11th start. We've lost 2 out of 7 when he's played on the left wing. Presumably the main factor was because Zaha was on the right.

Which then got me looking. Our successful spell at in the first 8 games concieded with Zaha mainly playing on the right. On the 9th game we switched him to the left. We've been pretty pants ever since. Going from 1 loss in 6 switching to 5 games without a win.

The stats could be unreliable though.

did you not see the impact at Norwich, we were being embarrassed by Norwich, you know the team that finished bottom, on comes Perrick and we get the equalizer soon after. How good will players be stuck on the bench with no experience. Two players come to mind, no one in the early days gave them a chance.. think of Vardy and our Ian Wright...
Roy is clueless to any one with flair or possibilities to do well...

Pierrick ?? Do you really think he is the answer to our problems. We haven’t a single player on the bench to give it a go with. Same crap every week by fans moaning about lack of attacking changes. We have no bloody attacking players on the bench. Pierrick will not be seen near the bench next season or any other season for that matter.

You forget who told him what defensive role he had to play that match. watch the match again.
It was clear Roys tactics that day was to not progress to next round... I remember the match sadly very well, because I delayed a flight to my holiday by one day to see that crap!!

Here we go again “Pierrick given a run out” and do as much damage to wolves like he did against Derby?

At 2-0 down with nothing to play for, what would be the harm in putting him on. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

He and Wickham did look good against Norwich, where the changes were made too late in the game.

There is a bit of a pattern emerging. Reidewald has a good run, PVA gets fit, Jairo doesnt get a look in. Perrieck helps change the game v Norwich, doesn't get a look in again. Meyer turns the Brighton game around, then forgotten about again. Sorloth, has a decent performance v Man U, Scores v Chelsea, disaperard off the face of the earth. Wickham, scores v Norwich, forces and og v Man City... shipped out on loan.

How do you get a chance? The only player to break into a team has gone on to be the most expensive full back in history.

So even my 2-1 loss prediction was a little too hopeful. We're ending the season with a whimper.
