Everything to do with Roy. Same 3 defensive mids every game despite always conceding first. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the much maligned Alan Pardew now has a better record than Roy Hodgson?
Actually, here's one for you Roy if you're reading this: Try a fourth defensive mid and another centre half, maybe that'll stop the opposition from scoring.

Spot on - all down to Roy’s tactics

Both have different set ups but Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in terms of their rigidity/stubbornness. We need a hybrid between without the latter. You do worry that this season could be a reflection of the Cup Final season where we had a shed load of points around Xmas and absolutely nothing post, scraping over the line. Look more ragged this time around.

A brief phase in a game that lasts 90 minutes. 3 losses on the trot, one scored, six conceded, zero points - those are the facts of the matter.

Everton were clinical we were not, this has nothing to do with our manager, we opened their door and politely tickled them, they opened our door and aggressively bulldozed everything, definitely not the managers fault because we had enough opportunities.

Everton had 8 shots on target as against 2 from Palace.
No real case to say we were unlucky.
Hodgson won’t change the way we play.
The question is whether his ways will get us enough points.
I’m not a fan, but can’t see an option other than persisting with him for this season.
I would prefer that he doesn’t sign a new contract however.

We were beaten by a better team who scored 3 good goals. That's football. We didn't play too badly and I thought there were some promising signs that Benteke might have begun to find his mojo again. Ayew worked his socks off too. It wasn't nearly as bad as some seem to be suggesting. Some of the link up play was better than I have seen for a while.

The secret now is not to get dispirited and allow a bad patch to turn into a disaster. Every team goes through them and then comes out of them. We still have a cushion which was earned. There is no need to panic. We can earn the points we need. Scrap for the points needed for safety. It's only after that we can start to plan for next year, which I suspect will involve a few significant changes of personnel.

A predictable defeat to a better team.
Ward? MacArthur? Just not good enough for this level. Nobody apart from Zaha and Ayew prepared to run at players. And why no Andros??
Same every week.
The only suprise was Benteke scoring. He seemed as shocked as the rest of us.

He’s an absolute stinker....can’t pass, no positional sense can’t defend can’t tackle contributes naff all.

And he was brought straight back into the team at the expense of the player of the month because ?

Unbelievable that Riedewald was dropped. He's a better defender and can actually pass it to someone on his own team.

BFS seems animated, passionate, and frustrated.

Roy is stood on the sideline like a dope.

The commentators and pundits have universally tore into our tactics and commitment and rightly so.

So some urgency, get the ball forward quickly, put some crosses into Benteke.

This isn't rocket science.

Agreed, the commentators and pundits on Talk Sport and particularly BT Sport were spot on and pretty much said we were awful, poor defending and clueless going forward.

There has been a lot of doom and gloom on here since around the time of the Brighton home performance, so It’s reassuring when neutral observers unanimously think we’re terrible, thus confirming it’s not just our negative perception, as some on here would have us believe.
