Like PatrickA, being a long standing (or sitting when I can) fan, I remember the Cliff Holton n ‘Budgie’ Burne days with fond memories. So what’s different now? Well just about everything, but in particular that they and the teams of those days were not afraid to shoot! I don’t know what the stats say for the season but if the Saints game is anything to go by I bet we are at the foot of the ‘ attempts league’. We just don’t shoot enough. The two goals Southampton scored were top class and both from outside the area, which is something we rarely attempt, but when you set up to defend and play most of the game in your own half that is not altogether surprising. They won’t all be like Townsend’s ‘worldie’ but we would surely score more if we stopped trying to play like Arsenal and play through the opposition. There are always knock-downs, deflections and resultant scraps from a speculative shot on target!

Please Roy, give us something positive and resembling entertainment!

I will say it hasn't all been boring this season. The Liverpool game reminded me of the past, the two Arsenal games were pretty entertaining and in the Man City game Tosun reminded me of Murray. However, he did a good Calvin Andrew impression against Southampton.
I may be repressing memories but the Spurs and Southampton game were the worst I remember.

One of by best memories since we have been back in the Premier League is the 3-3 at home to Liverpool.
The atmosphere was fantastic and the ground was rocking.
We came back from 3-0 down and believe we could have scored a winner if the game had gone on for 5 more minutes as we threw the kitchen sink at them.
What has this got to with Hodgson or the Southampton game?
I can’t say for sure, but believe that if Hodgson had been manager for that Liverpool game he would have tried to shut up shop at 3-0 down to ensure that the defeat was not heavier and would congratulate himself if the damage was thereby limited.
Against Southampton we never looked like coming back at them and never even tried 2 up front or ‘throwing the kitchen sink ‘ at them.
And it’s not just the Southampton game.
We’re averaging around 3 efforts on goal per game and I think we have only scored one goal in the first half at home all season.
Our set pieces and corners are the worst I can remember since I started following the club.

Caught between a rock and a hard place.
Ifor our status it's like having a model perfect looking wife on your arm who turns her back in bed, dont cook ,dont do chores and thinks you are her slave.
Alternatively a bit of a plain jane who sucks like a Dyson, cooks and cleans and basically loves to be a partner.
At the moment we have the model.
But would sometimes like a plain jane.

It's just not entertainment we are serving up.We are just grinding out results on the back of dire, unattractive football with the sole objective of staying in the PL.

I suspect that many supporters have reached the stage when they simply do not look forward to a home game and I am in this category. When I drive from the south coast I question my sanity and wonder why on earth I am subjecting myself to such trauma given I have the long journey back after witnessing utter dross. But,in the final analysis if we survive we will all be grateful and filled with glee accepting that the end justified the means.

Suffice to say with the same ownership and management team in situ next season we can expect more of the same.

And therein lies the rub, dear Palace fans.

You either let Roy Hodgson's tactical setup and starting 11 wash over you like some kind of dull tepid tidal wave, guaranteeing premier league footy every season, or you long to see us have a bit of a go.

Parish has made his choice and he likes the TV money and fame of being a Premier League chairman above all else, so its Roy or bust at the minute.

Remember AWB - without a chronic injury crisis at right back he would still be plugging away in the reserves and going out on loan to s*** sides in league 2.

AWB tells you all you need to know about Hodgson.

We've been largely lucky this season. We took more points early this season than we were really entitled to, or our performances deserved.

this should see us safe this year - but this won't happen every year. We keep going like we are now with this mix of Hodgson and lack of investment in playing squad then we will be relagated sooner rather than later.

I'm not saying Hodgsons the problem - hes done the best job he can with the players he's got - but something needs to change, or relegation beckons.

Nice to see us interested in a couple of youngsters, this may well be the way forward..hopefully they'll get some gametime. Excited to see what Scott Banks has, and Tosun is the type of player we needed, time will tell if he's the right player.

I beleive Hodgson can get us performing better with the addition of the right players and a better squad. So lets get the squad in a better state, then Hodgson can hand over the reigns to a new man.

Any points we have got this season we have deserved. Just because we dont have 40 shots on target and 80% percent possesion doesnt mean we have been lucky. There is more than 1 way to win a football game and if you score more goals than your opposition you deserve to win.

A couple of seasons ago towards the back end when we had Cabaye and RLC, Wilf and Andros firing we were playing some of the most attractive football I can remember a Palace team playing. Roy was our manager then.
So Roy is just setting the team up to play to the players strengths. With our current squad we can expect more of the same. Hopefully e can keep grinding out the points and not come up against too many teams at the top of their game (e.g. Southampton)

I don't think that will happen. Hodgson had the best players in England to choose from and by the end they were the worst England side I've ever seen. Negative side to side all behind the ball knock it up to Kane and hope he does something football - sound familiar? If history is repeating itself Hodgson will be gone next season.
Succession management Mr Parish!

Do some of you want Premier League football?? It is a genuine question because the moaning about Roy Hodgson is becoming pathetic. Have you not learnt from other clubs examples such as Stoke. They had a Manager who had kept them in the PL for ten years but their fans started to moan non stop about their style of football so the Chairman panicked and sacked Tony Pullis. Take a look where they are now, just above the trapdoor in the Championship. Not quite as bad was the Arsenal fans hounding Wenger out and they, based purely on league points, are no better than us now.

Be careful what you wish for.

I’m sorry but I just don’t see how Hodgson is playing to our strengths, certainly in the attacking sense.
The only forward who is playing to his potential this season is Ayew and that is more owing to hard work and endeavour.
The contributions of Zaha, Townsend, Benteke and Wickham this season have been negligible.
Yes there are extenuating circumstances and injuries and loss of form haven’t helped.
But Benteke won’t score if he never receives a cross in a game and Zaha and Townsend will not present a threat to the opposition goal while Hodgson stations them around the halfway line.
I think Townsend has had one good game this season at home to Liverpool.
I had forgotten what a forward pass to Zaha looks like until I saw the Mcarthy pass that led to the goal against Man City.
Most of the time Zaha receives the ball with his back to goal and either passes the ball back or is tackled/fouled.
If , by some chance, we do bring in some forward players in this window and we do play in a more attacking way I’ll be only too happy to admit I was wrong and the problem has been the resources.
We shall see.
