I just hoped that opinions would be based on a positive and encouraging support of our players instead of a constant determination to find fault, belittle, blame, undermine and downright demean them. I don't see any of you lot pulling on a Palace shirt and going up in front of TV audiences to fight and compete for ninety minutes, nor do I see any of you convincing Hodgson that you're good enough, and remember that what you're watching on TV is easy enough to pull to pieces on watching the replay for the tenth time. It's about respect.

Well Tekers scored 15 last season so there must be a decent striker in there somewhere. Surely Hodgson can dig him back out again? Look how some of our other players have improved.

Other aspects of Tekers' game I think have actually improved - winning the defensive header, collecting the long ball and holding it up, playing in other attacking players like Sako, McArthur and Wilf. He used to go AWOL at the near post when defending corners quite a lot. Probably he needs to stop worrying about goal count and just focus on putting in a good team shift, a goal is a goal no matter who scores it.

Just a query, if Benteke had been signed from Rochdale for £400,000 would people still be praising his work rate and goal ratio or saying he's not fit to wear the shirt...please dont harp on about last season that has gone, we are talking about this season, one goal in eighteen games

Oh yes, "I go to the match, you can't". Actually they have these things called editors who are quite good at making sure you see what's important. I could equally argue that you are 100 miles away in a stand and would need a telescope to see what I can see on the screen, but what would be the point? Your argument isn't motivated by anything objective, if it were it would have balance. Like many on here, you've decided you hate the player and now you only look for evidence that supports that position. It's a good thing Hodgson's mind doesn't work like that.

If I say your remarks cause me offence, then they cause me offence. Calling it "banter" is just an excuse for bad behaviour.

I think I've made a couple of reasoned and balanced comments about him and said what was good and what was not about his play. Did you see my joke the other day about his being arrested for loitering?

Whereas you only have one thing to say and you can't back it up with any argument better than "you're in Scotland so you know nothing". Now if you had played football much I assume you would have some sense of what it felt like to be in a period of poor form, to have folk on your back, to lose your confidence and energy. Yet you speak as if these are pieces of defective machinery which should be sent back to the shop for a refund.
