You stick to posting "Bender" Dan.... it makes you more credible.

Anyway... let's have a laugh with a few Greek gags...

Some years ago a small rural town in Spain twinned with a similar town in Greece.

The mayor of the Greek town visited the Spanish town.

When he saw the palatial mansion belonging to the Spanish mayor, he wondered aloud how
on earth he could afford such a house.
The Spaniard replied: ‘You see that bridge over there?
The EU gave us a grant to construct a two-lane bridge, but by building a single lane bridge with traffic lights at either end, I could build this place'.

The following year the Spaniard visited the Greek town.

He was simply amazed at the Greek mayor's house: gold taps, marble floors, diamond doorknobs, it was marvellous.

When he asked how he’d raised the money to build this incredible house, the Greek mayor said:‘You see that bridge over there?’

The Spaniard replied: ‘No.’..............

Syria has appealed for international assistance today, after a boatload of 500 Greeks arrived seeking a better life.

What are the first three letters of the Greek alphabet?

I.O.U.

Alex Tsipras has said that Greece will "Bounce Back" - Just like it's cheques !

My son wanted to know what it was like to live in Greece, so I took his pocket money off him.

Couldn't find it then I take it? You stick to belligerently posting your antiquated views on subjects and ignoring empirical evidence which goes against them.

I haven't looked to see what was exactly said, but him, legaleagle Stirling etc were all making overtures to get the debt written off I'm pretty sure.

How about you do the detective work for a change and prove they didn't say that? It's a lot more effort than posting "Bender" obviously.

Belligerent..... that adjective suits you perfectly.

Empirical evidence.... hahaha you jest.... more like Wikipedial evidence.

Don't keep taking me on as you know I have more wisdom experience and a better sense of humour.

Deep down you know it.

Priceless.

You've still got all night to piece together your reply with your evidence to disprove what I said.

Me and my "antiquated views" like expecting someone who has borrowed something to give it back.

I can still remember the time that you thought Forest Hillbilly was being serious about solar panels affecting the Sun... that is Priceless.

The bit in bold on your previous post makes you look 10 times more of a tit than any post of mine about solar panels.

I've got a pre-season training session tonight so I'll be too busy getting sweaty with a group of other men I'm afraid.

Sorry, don't bring me into your arguments and suggest something which I clearly didn't.

There are two scenarios here, you either didn't read my posts before going on your insane diatribe, or (and this is the more likely of the two) you did read them and were too f*cking stupid to understand them.

So let me try and put it in as simple terms as possible for you.

I clearly stated that blame lay on all sides at the elite level, mainly through European (German, mostly) banks and corrupt Greek politicians. Now that the pretty-much-blameless Greek people have had their dose of "medicine" (the kind of medicine that isn't actually medicine and just makes you worse), don't you think that some of the brunt should be shouldered by others?

Come on, you're a conservative, right? You must surely agree that it makes zero sense to raise taxes on small businesses in a recession? These are the types of policies being enforced on Greece by your so-called rightys.

So come on, show you've got a brain and come up with some coherent answers as to why you think Greece are as bad as you say and in need of yet more punishment. I bet you struggle.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

If there were simple answers, brighter people than us would have come up with a solution ages ago. However, since Greece is in no position to repay any further loans, any new money is a gift. And if you're going to give money to Greece, why not the US give too. And us, and Russia, China, Japan, Qatar et al.

There is a whole world of difference between suggesting there are simple answers and saying that Germany shouldn't impose on Greece measures that are economic suicide for their own political gain.

We shouldn't contribute because we are not part of the monetary union. If you have monetary union, then you must do it properly where poorer parts are subsidised by richer areas, as is the case in the U.S with their states system and even in the UK where Scotland and Wales receive extra funding.

London gets around the same subsidy funding as Scotland and Northern Ireland too. It was actually higher a few years ago. But for some reason the moaners don't moan about that.

They have fvcked up this area of finance for sure but there is much more to the EU - positive stuff - than just bankers' cash. Which is why in 2017 the UK referendum will vote 'yes' to remaining part of and, even more importantly, give a symbolic wedgie to you and your ilk

Chris' reply sort of sums up my position on the future of this saga.

My only contention with your posts previously is your forthright refusal to accept that Greeks are lazy and greedy opportunists... although I now note you are accepting their politicians are/were corrupt. They were voted in by the people and as such cannot ever be regarded as blameless.

The IMF's statement today that the deal Greece has accepted is totally unworkable reinforces my view that at best the Greeks are financially incompetent, if not corrupt as well.

We now have an impasse.... Germany will not back down and the Greek government surely will not vote for the deal following the IMF's advice (but you never know!).

As for my ability to understand economics/finance I worked as an IFA for over 30 years before I retired at 50 ten years ago, financially secure for the rest of my life.
