Well said. We needed a right back and we got one. We were never in for Brewster or Watkins and Benrahma was only an option if Zaha left. Good transfer window in my book and I didn’t expect much more. You forgot Scott Banks possibly best signing of all... And Wilfred

In terms of our expenditure on transfers, since the start of the 2017-18 season our Net Spend to-date is probably in the region of £10 Mill. I know our wages are ridiculously high for a club our size but we must surely have money to spend, if not, where is it? We aren’t owned by the Glazers are we?

High wage bill.I could be wrong but I am under the impression that wages account for some 78% of our income. Our Net Spend from 2014-15 to 2017-18 (4 seasons) was in the region of £130 Mill. Matchday revenue for the season is in the region of £14.5 Mill which is low in comparison to other teams in the PL. Edited by Willo (06 Oct 2020 9.01am)

We started the season with a squad that finished mid table last season. We've added the lad from West brom, have a new academy player in our starting 11 who's proving his worth, added one of the hottest prospects outside of the PL who's hit the ground running and have a striker on loan who averaged 1 in 3 for us last time around. Our best player is scoring goals,we've just beaten one of Europe's biggest clubs 3-1 on their own turf, have started the season commendably and we also have an abundance of players due to return from injury. Like seriously, moaners who are moaning at the finer paticulars or because we're not signing players that other LESSER EQUIPPED clubs are looking at; kindly wind it in! Youve absolutely lost it! I think this was my problem with this thread all along. It built expectation to the point that when the "he's definitely signing next week" becomes "next week" becomes "before the end of the window" becomes he hasn't signed, people become upset that we haven't singed such and such, even if the club have never said we were going to. The same happened with this thread in previous windows. On paper we have a better squad than last season because we have added three players, two of which are ready for the first team. The question is, with other clubs also strengthening will it be enough? Time will tell. The one player I've wanted since his name was first mentioned by the press about 18 months ago was Eze. We got him, so I'm happy, even if a little disappointed that we didn't show a bit more ambition.

Whom I suspect would not have started the last 2 games if Schlupp was fit. This season we have signed 3 players but not one was thrust straight into the team.I accept that Ferguson is injured.

The only position I feel hasn’t been addressed is the midfield playmaker. When you look back to when RLC was with us we had someone who could drive from the midfield and slot in a decent pass. With the current players I think the best hope of replicating that is to revert to 4-3-3, play Wilf left, Andros right, Bats up top with Eze playing in the middle and in front of the two Mc’s or whichever two holding players are selected. I think we need a Wilshere/Shelvey type of player, who knows maybe Reidewald could grow into that.

My overall impression of this transfer window is that it's a great shame that our scouts don't venture outside of the M25 and that they are obviously scared of flying

I think deep down as much as we hope for bigger and better investment in the team and a superstar manager to succeed Hodgson (which some may well want sooner than later) not much short of a success hungry billionaire taking over is going to see that happen. No billionaire will ever want to take over as long as Parish wants to hang on to his shares and continue to run the club as that's not how billionaires work. Perhaps it's time for Parish to let go as he obviously can't take the club any further. He will always have our thanks for saving the club and he has made himself an awful of of money in the process. A fairly well established Premier League club will always be an attraction to a billionaire but not with a minority shareholder involved
