We should have signed Watkins when we had the chance and Barkley on loan. We would have scored goals with ease through the middle

Let's keep the ball this season!

As I understand it we can still sell to countries whose window is open e.g. Russia , Portugal and buy and sell from the championship - so still some hope.

For me a successful window would have been a new young centre back and Sakho gone, purely as we seem to be one of the few clubs affected by FFP.
Meyer gone for the same reason and Roy doesnt use him, may be hard to shift though.
Wickham and Benteke replaced by players who can contribute goals.(more than 3!)

Id like to see us add the option of creativity though the middle as otherwise we are very one dimensional going forward, maybe Riedewald can do that but Roy would have to change formations and he doesnt seem to like the central idea.

So I'd give it a 5 out of 10 so far.

That'd do it.

Well my friend from the redneck state of Australia, who would consider me a leper currently, because of my location.
You have spat the dummy have'nt you. Football is a game played my 11 players with a god given talent. Not a religion.
So our illustrious leader and his minions have not provided a quality of football to meet your high standards this week.
Chelsea as you no doubt know is owned by an oligarch that could buy Crystal Palace, build us a magnificent stadium along Crystal Palace Parade out of his petty cash and buy any player he needs.
However, he will not be doing that and we are stuck with a man who has been a loyal supporter of the Eagles since he was a child and put his money where his mouth is for our club. This entitles him to some respect. Your tome shows me you do not deserve such respect.
If your friend enjoys your company maybe you could join him where you can enjoy weekly success and buy any player that you need.
Oh I forget you are in the Sunshine State.

What absolute bollocks

We started the season with a squad that finished mid table last season. We've added the lad from West brom, have a new academy player in our starting 11 who's proving his worth, added one of the hottest prospects outside of the PL who's hit the ground running and have a striker on loan who averaged 1 in 3 for us last time around. Our best player is scoring goals,we've just beaten one of Europe's biggest clubs 3-1 on their own turf, have started the season commendably and we also have an abundance of players due to return from injury. Like seriously, moaners who are moaning at the finer paticulars or because we're not signing players that other LESSER EQUIPPED clubs are looking at; kindly wind it in! Youve absolutely lost it!

Well said.

We needed a right back and we got one.
We needed a striker and we got one. (Albeit on loan)
We have Mitchell now to give us two left backs.
We signed Eze who is an absolute class act.

We were never in for Brewster or Watkins and Benrahma was only an option if Zaha left.

Good transfer window in my book and I didn’t expect much more.

Just to add. Don't all these additional names we're linked with terrify you? I thought signing Eze meant Wilf was off. We're now somehow in a position we have BOTH. If Wilf now looks at us and the additions brought in as a sign of ambition, as i believe we should all do;is happy, fighting for a spot and playing well then wouldn't you want to keep him? All these noises re Sarr, the Brentford lad, yada yada WHOEVER, would indicate one thing; Zaha is leaving. I don't want that. We keep him and its been the best window ever

Wilshire is on a free I would take him on a season deal with a pay as you play contract. He claims he is fit just not been played.

It might have been "exciting" to see a last buy but with our squad and a season where gate money will be two buttons and an old penny the transfer window has been a good one in my view.

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

Some interesting thoughts in here and a fair post.

Can’t help but feel that in bold is a bit optimistic though. I think deep down as much as we hope for bigger and better investment in the team and a superstar manager to succeed Hodgson (which some may well want sooner than later) not much short of a success hungry billionaire taking over is going to see that happen. I think our best hope for anything grander than the current status quo is to sneak into Europe via the Burnley model whenever that was (time has become an alien thing to me of late).

If it is optimism on your behalf fair play, you never know and we can still but dream!

I guess our ideas of moving forward are a bit different.

My dream is that the we get through the impact of that mad couple of seasons when we offloaded everyone to fund the purchases of Benteke and Sakho (when we did actually buy the players that we were all bleeting about) and ended up with Zeki Fryers playing on the left, without being relegated and we can get back to signing some exciting prospects.

Keeping Zaha for another season was a massive win. He is worth 12 points to us. Whereas Sakho always gives a chance, Benteke always misses them and Meyer probably needs one.

When Zaha and Roy leave, if we are in a position where we don’t have Benteke and Sakho and Mitchell, Ferguson and Eze (and maybe Meyer) are playing to their potential then we might just be able to survive and kick on in the Premier League.

Until then, I start my seasons hoping for 12 wins and a few draws, nothing more or less.

Pay as you play would be the only option. He’s a bit of a mystery because he’s a good player with the ball at his feet but has had a lot of injuries over stretching after a poor first touch. His scoring record is poor, injuries notwithstanding, he averages about one goal per season.

In terms of our expenditure on transfers, since the start of the 2017-18 season our Net Spend to-date is probably in the region of £10 Mill.
