If the rumours about Ray staying on are true you would think that would rule out any older establishment managers who will want their own people brought with them. Perhaps a younger less established manager is more likely in that case ?

However looking at how the 18’s play and how the 1st team play there may be something of a difference of opinions so probably a really rubbish thought! Edited by Helmet46 (18 May 2021 9.30am)

Sine Roy was appointed we have played Burnley seven times and won 4, lost 3, no draws. Does not paint Dyche as a master tactician compared to Roy. I think he would be a safe pair of hands which would not good enough to many on here. You're right, it would be bad from a short term perspective. Complete sideways move with little improvement in entertainment and the club standing still in this division. But... An excellent idea for a medium to long term perspective. We are not rushing to invest in the ground and that will take time. We will continue to invest in the academy. That is already paying dividends and will come through to the fist XI in 2/3 years. And, hopefully, we can pull our physio/medical team up from their pre-Nightingale Crimean War level. In the meantime, safe holding pattern in this division makes complete sense. Trouble is, the fans have no patience for this kind of business plan. That is something the management must address.

I'm now becoming of the opinion that if we can't get someone with Premier League experience of managing a mid to lower table team then we are better off sticking with Roy.

To echo the observations of others, Dyche has always been the 'New Roy', a continuation of the same approach, used for the same reasons to the same effect. He is certainly not a change of direction. Dyche's main attribute to us is that we can't take five years off of Roy.

If anyone moves to favourite now in Oddschecker other than Lampard it means there has been a lump put on from someone with inside info from agent/lawyer etc, based on past history
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
