Not quite correct he was offside! Was he? Missed that. Nevertheless he still should have squared it. They obviously don't practice this in training.

From the few clips I've seen of the squad training, they seem to do nothing but crossing and finishing, attacking three v twos, and all the other basic attacking practices. I'd say that fits in with what we know of Roy's methods, that he coaches defensive shape, and allows off the cuff individual play going forward, which in our case equates to each individual standing still wanting it to feet before they dribble with it. I would be very interested to see if a new coach would work on attacking patterns of play instead - not guaranteed to work, but different to what we do now. On PVA, yeah he was offside and VAR didn't need to get involved because he missed and the ball bounced back off him for a goal kick, but the replay showed he clearly was off. Which is piss poor really, as he was the widest player and could see all along the line and didn't need to go early.

I was also thinking along these lines, which makes PVA'a mistimed run and failure to square all the more frustrating. That would have been a very good goal indeed.
