I said alleged because his touch lets him down as a midfielder time after time. He does play CB at international level which leaves questions as to why he has been played in midfield consistently by your hero Roy. Fact is, that he's not really a specialist in either position. His been largely a poor to average signing. He's not done anything of note in his time here and plays in two positions where we have plenty of back up. He is an argument of why Hodgson shouldn't be trusted in the transfer market, as no matter what we need, we'll try and sign another defensive midfielder. You love taking things out of context or being willfully ignorance. If you read the posts you'll see I said I think Kouyate was ball watching and should have cut out the cross. It wasn't a great cross and drifting away from the goal. Haller had time to turn and react. All Kouyate had to do was take a couple of steps forward, but he just stood rooted to the spot. Tompkins hasn't got on the pitch yet this season... so I'm how you draw a comparison between results with and without Tompkins... I don't know. The reason I consistently call you out is because of your anti Hodgson agenda. The majority of your posts have that undercurrent running through them. And, as with your latest effort, don't stand up to scrutiny. It may have escaped your attention ( or could it be wilful ignorance ) that we signed Eze - not a defensive midfielder, but a young, exciting player with enormous potential. No doubt you will conjure up a response which will include some anti Hodgson sentiment. Yes, I saw your claim that Kouyate and the cross, but I think you are using that for your own agenda as you patently don't rate the player, and if it's your opinion, fine, although I disagree. And you managed to criticise him in a response to Tickled Pink's comment about how Palace allow too many crosses into the box. Pathetic. My results comment you clearly struggled with...I was not drawing any comparisons, just stating that we have just gone 3 games unbeaten with Kouyate in the team.

Tompkins isn't getting a look in whilst we consistently play an (alleged) midfielder as a centre back. It started out OK when he needed to stand in, has run his course. Kouyate is an international centre back and captains his country from that position. He also has pace, which none of the othe CBS do.

But the first was never a yellow, fact! Without meaning to be paranoid it feels as though if Benteke had scored the overhead kick he’d have been booked and sent off for dangerous play.

The incidents were identical with Benteke's right arm making contact with the player. Having produced a 'Yellow' for the first incident one can understand why the referee brandished a 'Yellow' for the second, which of course had to be followed by a 'Red'. In the interests of NOT turning this into a Willo thread I shall make no further comment on the decisions taken by Mr Coote. Edited by Willo (17 Dec 2020 11.22am)

I still think that the ref should be made [ like managers ] to face the cameras and explain why they gave any decision they made .

Such a pity we didn’t get a deserved second goal before half time.

If the manager feels that his comparative technical ability is offset by technical ability then that's fine. In fairness, it was only a small laps in concentration and that happens from time to time. I was just trying to point out that often when "worldies" are scored, its normally down to their being no pressure on the attacking player. If it was Sakho, he may be getting ripped apart by some. Normally, people justify Roy's position because he is from Croydon, old, untalented, and white (talent being the only relevant point in a persons failings - but people seek comfort in using the other two as an excuse). They never put forward any argument to support his decisions, such as his repeated refusal to change formation last season. He's finally done it, and its paying dividends.

To be fair their goal was absolutely class and whilst rather extraordinary it was certainly not a fluke. I think the overhead kick was class but the build up could have been stopped if firstly Maca had tackled the ball/guy that went past him to easily and then there was no one to to cut out the free cross that came in as we had a left back (PVA) and Eze out of position. Think we were our own downfall in that goal which was superbly taken?
