In theory I have no objection to rounding up any suspect, locking them up, and throwing away the key. Even if a few people turn out to be innocent, taking way the freedom of potential innocent people is acceptable if it is to protect the lives of definitely innocent people. In practice it think if we start rounding all suspected terrorist it would result in a flurry of last ditch attacks before they get caught. As usual, following an event like this, there have been arrests. Most are family members and usually released. Should family members of known 'jihadists' be automatically interned?

I think they would be outraged Willo, but the reason is because such action is likely to further radicalise those groups, making us less safe. That's why the rights are important. People are comparatively unlikely to go beserk with a machete if they have something to live for. People who are psychopaths or similar need to be detained though. Thank you Neville Chamberlain.

So what's your definition of 'something to live for'? A house, a car, a few children, a 'nice' job? That maybe your and many others definition in a materialistic world but not that of those who don't live within a westsern 'culture'. This is why these people are succeeding, those trying to 'fight' them are losing because they assume they have the same incentives in life, they don't. Too many viewing the world as if everyone should see it the same way. That will never, ever happen. That's also why the bully boy tactics of those governments the US, UK etc are backfiring in a very big way and will continue to do so for quite a while yet. Edited by europalace (04 Jun 2017 6.12pm)

Edited by europalace (04 Jun 2017 6.12pm) I agree with your post. I would never suggest we should be handing out home ownership or cars to anyone, least of all these cretins. What I am suggesting is that everyone needs to find meaning in their lives - like Palace does for many of us. Being part of a community means accepting some basic rights and norms. But it's one thing to just berate people to 'integrate' and another to help them do so in a structured way by understanding and shaping their perspectives. I think only the completely unhinged can't be brought back, and those need to be detained before they harm anyone.

That's why multi-culturalism and pretending that people of different race, religion, language and culture can get along just fine, is delusional nonsense.

If so, as Funty says the class of posters on HOL has hit the floor and still dropping. Edited by pefwin (04 Jun 2017 6.31pm)
