It’s not my preference, because there are some downsides.” - what changed between then and him declaring for leave? Also widely reported that he wrote a reveal article for both leave and remain positions prior to publicly declaring for leave; his position was dependent on benefit to him, he knew he could argue both sides well enough. We don't know what was in his mind however another way of looking at his 2 documents is that of a thoughtful man. He puts the pros and cons down on paper to crystallise his thinking, in politics this is known as opposition research. I have no problem with Corbyn writing a pro nuclear paper if that helps him understand the argument for nuclear disarmament better.

Britain has turned against Brexit and would now vote to stay in the European Union, according to the biggest ever poll-of-polls. The YouGov analysis for the Evening Standard of 300 surveys shows “concrete” evidence that the country shifted against quitting the European bloc in the year after the June 2016 referendum and has steadfastly stuck to this position ever since. One of the most striking findings is that 204 out of 226 polls since July 2017 have shown Remain ahead, with just seven for Leave, and 15 ties. Since July 2017 the public has wanted to remain in the EU. Why can parliament simply not admit it and end the whole disaster?

Sure, or you could view it as someone with no principles who’s willing to back whichever way the wind blows to further his career. I know which one I suspect of Mr Johnson. ‘Opposition research’ is 90% of what I do on here

We would have been out of Europe long ago if it wasn't for Remainers.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Dealing with illegal immigration is obviously a big problem but I cannot see why ending freedom of movement will help with that as we already have border controls which check everyone. Except the illegals. As a young man I went to college in Whitechapel and have drunk a beer in the Blind Beggar. All at the time when the Krays ruled the roost running the most insidious protection rackets. The Krays were 100% British. You cant see freedom of movement being a problem....really.
