You notice that....even though it's their position which is the vast minority in the world....that it's always your opinion that's wrong.

Nope.

Also, this common trick of highlighting frigging Hitler and a war from nearly three generations ago

I suspect the vast majority of people holding opinions against immigration would still hold them if Hitler had never existed. Indeed, regimes against mass immigration have existed since humans yet no Hitler....funny that isn't it.

Anyone who actually knows that period of history knows that Hitler came about from far more inputs than a dislike of mass immigration, which was hardly a significant factor in early Germany anyway....in fact the more I think about it the more ridiculous the analogy is.

Indeed, the British people, like most people, were far more against mass immigration in the past....yet the Nazi party were never in power here. So the argument makes no sense whatsoever.

Stalin killed far more people of course but always Hitler.....Sod Hitler and sod this hubris.

It seems to me that your focus is almost exclusively associated with your views on race and immigration. Anyway, it was an interesting "debate" and I somehow sense that neither I nor others will change your perception just as you won't mine. My "mentality", by the way, kind of speaks for itself.

I'm not interested in perceptions. I'm concerned with demonstrable realities.

I'm tired of people who have barely begun to shave or who live in Cornwall telling me about how wonderful our new multicultural, overpopulated and rapidly declining country is, and that somehow we should all be grateful.

I know you appear to live your life focussed on the supposed evils of immigration/minorities; however, let me expand on what you highlighted -
Think back to the 1930's and the little things Hitler got away with that encouraged him to go further; the encouragement of social and cultural division and the treatment to those not deemed to be somehow truly "pure" German.
Now look to the present day and unfortunately there seem to me to be parallels such as the deliberate creation of social and cultural division, ultra nationalism, authoritarian tendencies, demonising minorities, attacking the judiciary if it gets in the way and so on. Trump certainly displays all of the above and arguably Johnson did in many respects - think of the proroguing of parliament for example. Remember Trump's incessant chanting of "lock her up" referring to Hilary Clinton during his campaign and that Mike Pence deserved all he got if he dared to certify Biden's victory. Would Trump have imprisoned political opponents if he could - just like Bin Salman and others. Think again of his attacks on the press and then January 6th.
Those are some of the things that make me comment as I did. A much broader analysis than simply UK immigration - granted - but I certainly see the threat of fascism as very real in todays world.

Are you Gary Lineker?

The usual one liner and totally irrelevant. What are your views on the points made?

My view on your point of trying to link Nazi Germany to peoples' perfectly reasonable concerns about immigration? My view is that that line has been tried by Lineker and it is just as daft when you say it as it was when he said it.

It could be argued they present a bigger risk to patients because of language difficulties. But hey, they are cheap and available, and like teaching and policing, the entrance exams have been made a little easier to aid recruitment when there are staffing shortages.

Most of the unskilled jobs are still done by locals but there just aren't enough of them wanting the work. So do you want the work covered but with possible language issues (although everyone has to reach a minimum standard) or just leave the jobs vacant, putting even greater stress on the staff?

My wife came home in tears one day last week due to stress and nearly couldn't work the next day. Stress-related sickness is common.

He used Hitler as only a starting point to develop a much wider position about the degeneration of politics.

You, and others, of course, see only the reference to Hitler and ignore the actual point.

It is multi-cultural. Get used to it, or forever stay angry, because it's not going to change. People who live in Cornwall are just as able to use their brains and reach conclusions as anyone else. We are not over-populated. I have lived somewhere that is, and we aren't by a very long chalk. We have more people now than when I was a kid, and managing where they are could be done better, but we have what we need. Yes, we are declining, but you are finding a scapegoat and not a reason. The decline is entirely down to our own stupidity.

I think I'm well within my rights to point out the inappropriateness of the example. Especially as I've been called a 'neo Nazi' on this forum....p1sses me off.

As for the wider point, it wasn't addressed to me....and to be fair I've addressed these points many times.

They know what's best for us, just like him.

You do toss out some complete nonsense on a daily basis, don't you?

I no more what you suggest than I want it run by a bunch of priests.

I want each country run by the people for the people, using free and fair elections to select who the people are.

Once done I also think that cooperation between countries to solve the big global issues is essential. No one country can deal with these things alone so we need forums and informed thinking.

Cooperation is a great deal more preferable to confrontation, which is the way these things used to be sorted out.

From the left, the Hitler comparisons can become rather cliche and throwaway as it demeans what was a horrific time and event. On the other hand some on the far right do indeed still fully embrace what Hitler believed and stood for. They are routinely given a free pass by other far and dissident right types and their ilk who often choose to ignore such traits and all that naturally comes with such a warped mindset. Neither position is ideal, though saying 'you're Hitler' on repeat I would argue is more 'noise', whereas being near the gravitational pull of the kind of dehumanisation that the man presided over is clearly more disturbing. At least to most.
