It is a mystery with such insight you are not managing a PL team. Have you dropped a note to Newcastle? Originally posted by Mathers
His subs have been to look fantastic because his starting XI was wrong. Olise has played cumulative 45 mins so far this season. 1 goal and 1 assist. Ayew has contributed naff all. Tonight he got them wrong. Tomkins was clearly not the right choice to come on. Equally I am not surprised we have conceded 2 x 94th min equalisers when Kouyate has been on the pitch. He’s a f***ing liability and the s*** headed clearance tonight that gave them the corner sums him up perfectly.

OK, the last ten minutes were bad, but all in all a highly impressive game seen with Eagle eyes. Now I am a proud Palace fan. To give Arsenal such a run for their money, I love it. Long may it last and with Eze, Zaha, and hopefully, Hughes (for Kouyate) waiting in the wings, we are in for our best season since promotion all those years ago.

Yes we should be six points further up the table, 3 games we deserved to win but didn't. But our quality of play, creativity and fighting spirit should be acknowledged.

I don’t know what we are doing in training but individuall the players are getting better by the game. Benteke, Ward, Mitchell, MacArthur, Zaha, Edouard, all ñoticeably better. Our two centre backs were very polished v Arsenal. Even Gary Neville of all people was raving about us. He was clearly very impressed and rightly so.

Andy Townsend commented during the second half how relaxed and assured Palace looked in possession compared to Arsenal. To be honest, that wasn't a description or comparison I ever expected to hear in my lifetime.

We are moving in the right direction and it is a work in progress and it is great to watch and individually the players have been able to show their talents under PV.

Was gutted last night. I still think that we deserved all 3 points. But the tierney effort that hit the bar compared to our one in off the bar was mms difference.

One thing: Zaha wasn't crucial to our game yesterday, we played in a positive manner without him and he is not now required to be our saviour in each and every game. I hope this releases some pressure on him and he starts to enjoy his football again. I get more excited at the prospect of Olise coming on - direct, quick, no tantrums, and effective. I'm wondering when he will be a starter?

Most frustrating thing is that in spite of how well we have played since the Chelsea game, we're still sitting in 14th. Whereas Brighton are sitting in 4th and, I would argue, haven't played any better than us on average across all games so far. Maybe it's down to the shift in the way we play: under Potter Brighton started playing attractive, possession-based football, but struggled to pick up the points their performances deserved. Now that's bedded in and they've added a couple more players to suit their style, they've managed to change this. We're now in a similar situation with a manager new to the Prem (at manager level), and a revolutionary change in the way we play football. Hopefully with a little more bedding in and a couple more changes in personnel to suit the system (Hughes for Milivojevic?) we can start converting performances into maximum points. We also haven't really played a poor team yet (apart from Spurs), so it'll be interesting to see how we do in the games where we're expected to win points, which was one of Roy's strengths. Newcastle next, so we're about to find out.
We are playing the best football in decades with PV after only a handful of games, life is good with no Royball, the wins will come. Just hoping Steve Bruce is still manager on Saturday.

Gutted to concede but absolutely loving the way we are playing. What this game did prove is that we are a good team with or without Wilf

I'm wondering when he will be a starter? Olise got back and supported Ward as much as Ayew when he came on and stats from the previous game showed he offered defensive cover in that one too. I actually thought Ayew had a reasonably good game, but Olise once again offered something Ayew didn't: end product. The one thing that might be favouring Ayew, however, is experience. Personally I don't think Vieira will be able to leave Olise on the bench for much longer though. Overall a great night's work. We looked a bit panicky at the end which cost us, but given the fixtures we've had 8 points is a respectable haul. The question now is how we'll fare against weaker teams like Newcastle who are more likely to go direct to avoid the press. Whatever the case, Vieira continues to impress. I imagine many Arsenal fans watched on with envy last night given our new team was assembled for the price of one Pepe!
