This is bad. Roy has to explain it. Except he won’t. The one thing you can bet is Roy won’t be taking any of the blame personally. Someone above said Southampton got done 9-0 and bounced back - they did. But they have a different setup and a manager who is progressive. PVA shouldn’t play next game - he will. But Roy will recycle the same old thing. This is the England v Iceland performance. It’s all well and good going “the players froze” or “the players didn’t do the system”. You have to look at why. I think if Roy comes out and says -“you know what we all got it wrong today, the players didn’t play well and I got my tactics wrong” then it would go a long way. But I’ll lay money he goes on about how good Liverpool were (which they were) but it would be nice if he could acknowledge his role in things when it goes badly.

It is but it’s just one of those games. It doesn’t mean we will capitulate every week. We always seem to get seriously tonked at least once each season....... at least this time it was by a club above us in the table

Don’t forget we have a very refreshed Trekkers back for the next game! Didn’t think I would ever say that.

I don't know where we were in the table at that point but we finished 15th out of 24 teams in the old First Division.

I’m ashamed to be a Palace fan, the players should be ashamed to be Palace players too. Worst 2 nd half I’ve ever seen, not to mention the first half. No fight at all, just stand back and let the Liverpool midfield pick their passes. F*****g disgrace.

We came out fighting at the start of the second half but when the fourth went in you could see the energy levels drop. Liverpool were so clinical today and it didn't feel like a 0-7 game. 8 shots on target, 7 goals. Roy has to say to the players that this was a fluke result, brush yourself down and move on.

The best keeper in the world would have not stopped any of the goals - all of the highest quality even though PVA was responsible for at least two of them. Can we sell him on and get a decent left-back ? Hopefully the lad from WBA will be around soon

At half time no one would've suggested a 2-2 score line being unfair, We had lots of the ball first half and liverpool were being stretched, the huge difference in that half and in the whole game was their clinical finishing which is what you'd really expect considering our defending so far this season and our weakness of converting opportunities, once their forth went in our players were done. Move on.

Some of you want the attacking football with no defending. This is what you get. Who has ever said they want the attacking football with NO defending?! It is such poor form to now be making stuff up.

Last time we lost really heavily to Liverpool we went out and bought Nigel Martin. Don't think that sort of change would make any difference this time as Guaita couldn't really be blamed for any of the goals. Eze looked tired from the start and I wonder if he needs a rest as the Premiership pace is very sapping for young players. PVA hopeless at full back defensive positioning.
I am determined to live until I am as old as I look. |
