A couple of years ago a mate introduced me to one of his friends who just happens to be one of Parish’s best mates. He rarely talks about what’s going on behind the scenes at Palace , but I did get a flavour for just how difficult it is to run CPFC. And that in turn softened my sentiments somewhat. However one thing that has been brought to SP’s attention by his friends is his constant appoint of former players into roles that they aren’t necessarily qualified for. After the departure of BFS, I wonder who was advising Parish on a successor. To end up with FdB seems to me a fairly bold attempt to head in a different direction. One can only imagine how it could have turned out had he had a few more games and garnered a few points from them. All history I know...

Maybe Mr Unfinished Business. He wss either just back to finish business or soon to be back. He was at the soho offices when FDB went on the train in his chinos to meet Parish and probably when he was sacked too. I think Parish heard key words of youth, Ajax etc and thought it was the perfect answer to his problems and couldn’t resist FDB, plus he gets star struck by players he saw and remembers well. That summer was a disaster and that FDB interview on the Beckenham pitch had me thinking he was wrong even more than before. Nothing gradual about that or concern of CPFC.

Since Roy came in we have signed one forward player. Ayew, for about £3 million. Our two best forwards at the time he arrived have gone completely off the boil, neither, I think, because of the manager. Benteke has just had a psychological breakdown of his own making and Wilf f*cked up his move away. What else could any manager do to make us more dangerous going forward? What exactly are you meant to work with? The times we actually went out and signed talented forwards (RLC and Batman) we looked bloody dangerous and were challenging in the top 6 of the form table. At the start of this season watching us get torn apart by Hertha Berlin I thought it would be a miracle if we stayed up. We are still looking like we will, and that is a massive credit to Roy.

That could have worked out a bit different to FdB. Although we probably would have still struggled with 3 at the back.

Apologies if you mentioned the BBS poll. It was early. It will change after we beat Newcastle and Brighton then it will change again when we struggle a bit against Watford, but in the next game fans will be much happier again when we do well at Bournemouth ..but then again very upset and cross when Liverpool do us, but would you believe it against Burnley ..fans decide to all like Hodgson after all as we thrash them 1-0 ...but then suddenl
