Well whoopy doo!! Edited by the silurian (19 Apr 2023 4.54pm) Sorry for your wife. I broke my own ankle two years ago (or rather the dog did it for me) and wearing a big boot for 2 months was a pain, although it only restricted my mobility, not stopped it. At least your wife has a big incentive to get mobile and do things for herself. I don't speak for Cornwall, or invent cruises. Do you want me to send you the booking receipt, or will you apologise without that being necessary?

Edited by the silurian (19 Apr 2023 1.14pm) In fairness you did latch onto government stats on a variety of countries in odd confrontation manner about why your personal experience of living somewhere is more valuable and meaningful. Wis was dismissive of that, but of course by your logic the fact I've spent significant time in 5 european countries over the past month makes me some kind of oracle on the subject.. when really it doesn't. Wizs politics differ from the majority here, and he stubbornly sticks to his guns (as do most by the way). The reason people 'take offense' and pepper him with insults is largely because it's gang logic against a view they don't hold and an outlet for people who want someone to rant at, with cheerleaders patting them on the back rather than any pushback. Certainly Wiz could be more diplomatic with more give and take, but when you compare it to some of the virtiol he receives (posts about how his vote can counter others 'for now', or jokes about covid that basically are a grim excitement about the idea of him popping his clogs) it's nothing. I'm guessing he means that you've just accused him of making up a cruise, and he's said he can prove he's been on it. It's just another episode of spouting stuff you know you'll not get much pushback for from anyone else so you just go for it. A bit like the 'old man' or 'senile' insults that frequent here as if others won't or don't ever age. Outside of the bubble I wonder if some have the awareness of how this nonsense looks. Perhaps we should get back on topic, because I don't see where pages of this back and forth will get anyone.

Perhaps they do need us after all! For sure, they do. Brexit was as unwelcome for the EU as it was for me. They will be stronger with us in it and must deeply regret not going just a little further when offering compromises to Cameron. It's going to be very interesting to see how and when the overtures start and what kind of soft landing back inside the EU fence is offered. For I don't think it will be a one stage rejoin process.

It is a huge relief to put this off for a year, possibly it is just not ready. But things are difficult enough already. Van Leyden clearly sensitive to Britain having second thoughts.
