Don't expect Fast free-flowing attacking football immediately. previous experience seems to suggest that he likes to build on a strong defence, which a) is fine be me and b) we don't have yet. I can see some losses early doors, but we must not panic. we also must not be cut adrift by xmas - but I think that's unlikely. Survival with some progress that we're moving in the right direction is my target. i.e. What Fulham did last year... without the relegation!! Anything more than that from the position we're in now will be a great bonus (but also completely achievable!)

Correct he was sacked for losing 5 in a row but what did he do the 2 seasons before that???? he got them from 17th to 5th and then the season after finished 2nd on a shoe string budget . Maybe add this into your comment about being sacked afetr 5 games . Roy lost his first 4 games did we get relegated???? Originally posted by maddog
He was sacked by Nice for losing 5 matches in a row! That’s just an average Christmas for Palace!

I wonder if in fact PV was the first choice. Not only has he achieved just about everything as a player, he should excite all those playing for him, he hopefully will have a good relationship with the press, but, and here's the rub, he might also be in a position to attract investment from the yanks. Who knows? The City Group might be interested in an outlet in the Premier League. So the stated war chest of £80m might be supplemented by a substantial investment from across the pond. Just saying. Certainly no other candidate had that obvious connection.

don't want to be too demanding, but I really want to hear an interview with Vieira where he talks about why he wanted to come to Palace, and how he sees the task ahead. I know he'll have more pressing things to do, but you've got to play the media game as well. Hopefully he'll be at the training ground soon and our camera team can have 15 minutes with him

Usual stuff. I'm sure the club will put out a lengthier in-house interview, plus the press will probably interview him too, but whether he'll go far beyond the usual platitudes or not remains to be seen.
