Eze needs to play centrally off the striker. Benteke would be better suited with him in that position. But with confidence and ability in tatters it's a wasted solution

Roy effing Hodgeson in my book has a major part of the blame here. Before the goal, you can see PVA dribble past 2 and look for a forward passing option that due to the negative set up is not there. So he makes a back pass which gives a scrappy clearance which leads to a Burnley forward arching pass that was mis headed by Kouyate and not defended by Dann. For they Roy Brigade, we did say it here that the "Brilliant" Leeds win was a little more than a possible 2-2 draw if you take luck out of the result. A disallowed goal due to var offside, an own goal and a leeds wood work shot. Same logic, today could have easily been 2-0 Burnley, or 1-1, or 2-1 us if Michy and Bendonkey had buried their chances. Now, for the millions he gets paid, a good manager should manage these chances to assure 3 points from a team in our league. No. Roy Out! Else its the same drudgery, luck of the draw football that does not progress us to anywhere and just stifles the gem talents we have. A manager can not be the prime diminisher of the optimale performance of the squad he has. Dontn tell me about Roy not having quality at his disposal. BS. What happened at Liverpool where attendance dwindled 3 fold despite resources availed?? No Siree. This dog just didnt hunt. OK Now. Rant Over. Criticism not allowed as I know my blood is red and blue.

Only saving grace tonight is that however bad that was there are still 3 teams more awful than us at the bottom right now. The Toon have had rough form lately, like Burnley, so you can guess what is going to happen Friday night. Had Zaha as captain in my fantasy team to boot

I wasn't at all surprised by this. So typically Palace. Beaten by a team with 2 points.

I suspect Zaha's absence leaves the team lacking confidence. But WTF do I know. Supporting CPFC is all about suffering.

If anyone posts that we have 13 points cheer up, I'll
strangle something.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Having watched the dire show tonight I am beginning to ponder if there ARE 3 worse teams than us.
If we were still playing at this moment in we would still be goalless.
I can see another defeat against Newcastle.

How on earth can you blame our Manager with the mistakes his players make on the pitch, bizarre.

Agreed it was a grim spectacle. However, losing Wilf without having time to prepare for his absence naturally disrupted everything. If we'd had a few days to train for a no-Wilf set-up, I expect we could have looked much better on the attack.

On the other end of the pitch, Kouyate, Dann and McArthur looked slower and more indecisive than I've ever seen them. We were lucky to concede only 1.

Disagree completely. Has more energy than most of the team combined.

Managers are paid millions to plan for success taking into account negating contingencies buddy. In case you didnt know. Its whats taught in the leading management schools these days. You are welcome.

Surely that’s it for Townsend now. Yet another dreadful display from a player who gets an easier ride than anyone I have ever known. Eze was excellent and it was a really good display from Clyne, but so many of the usual 7/10 merchants had a stinker. We must play Sakho in games like this to get passing moves going. Jimmy Mac was poor, the CBs were off their game and Ayew’s inconsistency is becoming a problem. As for the myth Batshuayi, I just don’t know how he has such a big reputation. But hopefully we will have Wilf back and will make no mistake on Friday against a side every bit as bad as Burnley.

Has been excellent all season until now...give the guy a break. One bad game doesn't warrant dropping.

Yep a very frustrating display.

And obviously to compound this we'll likely lose Wilf for another couple of games. With Eze just starting to establish himself in the team I was looking forward to him and Wilf developing their relationship across this spell of games (where we'd likely be having more possession than usual).

But as ever with Palace it's one step forward and one step back. Think we'd have played all night and not scored tbh as we were not calm enough on the ball in the final third. Friday will be a similar type of game I imagine.

The frustrating thing tonight was that Burnley were poor 2nd half and there for the taking and we kept playing the wrong final ball when we had good positions.
