At the end of the day Roy is not going to be our manager for much longer one season more at most .So we should rebuild from now top to bottom and go again next season .

We are not the only ones thinking along these lines. If I were Manchester United I would be thinking about Poch because he is available now end of next season he may not be. I can't believe that if Dyche is leaving Burnley he would even consider Palace. Another small market team with no money and few concrete reasons to believe things will get better soon.

This is a good example as to how people mis-represent us and try to manage expectations down... our wage budget is roughly £32m per year more than Burnley’s. Their highest ever transfer fees are; - Gibson, £15m Ours are; - Benteke, £32m This talk of Hodgson’s miracles is not based in any sort of reality.

We go 1 down: He subs a creative midfielder for a defensive midfielder We are 2 down: He replaces a defender with Andros (hooray) and Benteke with a defender. So Andros has no target man to aim for. Surely these tactics are from someone who has lost their marbles. Today has put me in the 'Roy must go' camp. I also thought Riedewald was one of our best players when Roy decided to haul him off after 60 mins for another defensive midfielder who’s far worst in possession. No doubt he’ll be resigned for bench for the rest of the season now.

Riedwald was good first half but ran out of steam .Begs the question why.

Wage budget is far more indicative of squad quality, and the correlation between wage bill and league finish is far stronger than transfer spend/league finish. Did Hodgson sign Sakho and Beneteke and agree to pay them in excess of £100k per week ? These 2 players have been a financial drain on the club and have not merited either the transfer fees or wages paid. Although I would accept that both signings seemed good at the time. Our transfer budget will remain tight while we have the likes of those two plus Zaha on our books ( and yes, I'm aware that Benteke's new contract may have been at reduced terms ) It's about time that some thought was given to a squad rebuild and who will oversee it given the short term contracts that Hodgson is employed under

But those are all players put on big contracts three or four years ago and are now in decline. Townsends problems with niggling injury and consistency have been there since day one and wont be getting any better with age. Age, injuries and inability to regain fitness mean Sakho is now looking on the way down (being kind). WRT the wage bill Meyer is also a lightweight on £80k a week and IIRC Scott Dann negotiated a hefty and valuable contract when his stock with us was at its greatest. Benteke doesn't require explanation other than his 20 from 23 good chances missed during 2017-18. This stuff about him just needing service and to get his confidence back is bollocks.

Agree about Benteke can't have many supporters left had numerous balls to his feet today and couldn't control anything. Total waste of space should get rid of him and Sakho asap.

Agree Benteke should be equal to Ings or Giroud but is clumsy and seems to have no eye for a goal or where to be Think back to Kevin Phillips older player but seemed to know where the ball would be without chasing and almost all his shots were on target. Benteke should be moved on if anyone will take him

Yes - Roy should go now. And to have ambition of Dyche as a replacement, why? SP show some ambition please. Yes your Dutch project failed, but please don’t let that stifle any new ideas - what we are seeing now is not good enough - plan a boring at best and so safe - until we concede - then where is plan b c d e ?? Come on - have some balls!

Roy is not the problem?? How strange... Originally posted by Beetle
Roy’s not the problem, he’s not been given any funds for several seasons and we’ve been comfortable. The board should back him with some new players. Zaha wants to leave, but Palace have priced him out of the market. This season it’s been boring watching Palace but when I get my head right I recall losing at home to scunthorpe and Barnsley and suddenly things ain’t so bad. At least the board are being careful as surely no one wants administration again, but some excitement is needed. The sad thing is I didn’t go to the Watford game due to the drudgery of watching Palace this season, clearly with what has transpired since , I wish i had gone now. Football without fans is actually ridiculous, I thought with the restart we might be a bit more exciting given we are virtually safe but apart from the Bournemouth game it’s the same old. That being said Palace being Palace are always liable to find a result against the so called top 6, but perhaps it’s best we don’t get the Europa league spots with the squad as is , as well as the fact no one will be able to go to the games if this behind closed doors continues.
