How can you say that we didn’t create anything of note and then say we wasted promising positions ?! It’s one or the other.

Zaha can make all the runs he likes but while the club fail to sign a genuine goal scorer that has the awareness to provide that outlet for him then we will continue to struggle to score goals

This is such a simple concept I don't know why I have to explain it to you twice. Getting into promising positions is not the same as creating chances. Wilf gets free on the right, beats his man and has the ball inside the penalty area. This is a promising position. When there is nobody making a run for him and his pass goes to no one that is a waste of a promising position where we haven't created anything of note.

"Brighton are talking about how they're coming for us. And it's like, we've been waiting in the Premier League for you for ages." Wilfried Zaha, 2017.

So what would you do with the players at Hodgson ‘s disposal - let’s remind ourselves that our forwards consist of a washed up Benteke a sick note Wickham and the hard working but not exactly lethal Ayew ?

I'd be working on attacking movement and studying videos of previous games to try and put right the mistakes we're making. I also wouldn't play 3 holding midfielders at home.

A well coached side is more than the sum of their parts. Defensively we are solid, but no more solid than the players we have at our disposal. Going forward I believe we are far less effective than we should be. We have good players available, yet week after week we are toothless in front of goal. There doesn't seem to be any change in our approach, or any improvement in the quality on the pitch. That has to be down to the coaching and what the players are being told.

Precisely.

We are certainly not-freighted with great forward prowess, as per last season, when our top scorer was Milivojevic with penalties and free kicks. No additions up front and no replacement for AWB - what a wonderful transfer window ! I actually feel for Hodgson who certainly hasn't been supported in the transfer market.

Do you think perhaps it is a case of Parish using Roy to keep the ship afloat while they organise things in the background with a view to loosening the purse strings when he is replaced with a younger and more dynamic manager? You get the feeling Roy could keep us up with a pub team.

I am minded to think this is a rhetorical question.
I am not of the belief that this is club strategy at all.

I would simplify it further and say that a chance created is one where a Shot is taken.
A Promising position is where we are not yet in a position to take a shot - but would hope to be soon.

So we didn’t create anything to get into a promising situation ?

What insight do you have into the training methods employed at the club ? Do you seriously think that they don’t try to improve areas of weakness ? Do you realise that even the training is video’d ?.

Please tell me who these good players are that should be scoring frequently but are being held back by the tactics or coaching.

Because we set up to stop the opposition scoring first of all, everything else is secondary, sadly.
