Like others, the starting line up surprised me. But Ward, Dann and Townsend all rose to the challenge - I'm not seeing a ' lost dressing room ' as somebody recently claimed.

An excellent first half should have seen us ahead by more than one goal. At 1-1 it could have gone either way and then of course Benteke's red meant we had to hold what we had.

Despite the gushings of ' Arry, I thought Eze had a pretty average game...ran up too many blind alleys and his passing was poor. But he and Wilf keep defenders occupied with their movement, and with a rejuvenated Benteke, we look dangerous going forward. He will be missed on Saturday.

Oh, and well done to David Moyes for an honest appraisal of the game and in particular the red card.

Don’t they relegate Referee’s who have poor games? Thought he was disgraceful!!!

Good post!
I didn't wait to listen to Moyes but will look it up now

Such a shame as we played so well... We were literally in cruise control until a worldy of a goal from them and then the ridiculous sending off forced us to defend the draw..

But lots of positives.. Thought Townsend was superb tonight and worked so hard.. Thought Wilf was poor.. Had one of his childish nights where he did nothing but whinge and gave the ball away alot.

You summed up my feelings KBL. That's now three good performances in a row with meaningful attacking intent. Very disappointed with Wilf and his childish antics. He really does need to grow up and accept that sometimes you come up against a defender who can get the better of you.

I have to agree with the female commentator (despite her grating voice) that Coufal was excellent for WH and imo probably just deserved MOTM ahead of Andros.

I was also struck by Roy wanting to keep an attacking threat by bringing on Ayew for Eze (also gives Eze a bit of a rest as we need him Saturday lunch time!). Also Schlupp for Townsend was a good move.

Despite our backs-to-the-wall play in the last 20, teh final play of the game was a Palace corner!

At least we got a point. Trying to drag a positive out of Benteke's unjust red card, he'll be rested when he comes back after 3 matches, and it will give Ayew and Bats a chance to shine

should only be 1 match as two yellows not a straight red

I think both teams did very well at shutting out the creative players and the referee seemed happy to let the game flow giving few free-kicks to either side. That's what makes Bentenke's two yellow cards so odd, as the referee seemingly didn't want to give anything. The second one the defender actually jumped into his arm. Luka's was definitely a yellow as it's black and white that if you pull a player back when they're breaking it's an automatic yellow.

What I liked most about our performance was that once we got in front we continued to push forward and didn't just sit back. West Ham have been very good recently so that is a very good result, just a shame we didn't get to see what we could have done with 11 men on the pitch for the whole game.

Tekkers only had to hit it, not ponce around, then it would have been a deserved 0-2 at half-time.

Zaha at his most irritating.

Impressive performance, not phased by another red card they are becoming like confetti.

Particular praise for Ward and Dann who fitted in seamlessly.

Just thinking how we were vulnerable down the right, PVA is a bit of a law unto himself.

Clyne could return and Ward go to LB although Mitchell acquitted himself very well.

To jump high and head the ball without raising your arms is impossible, he wasn’t leading with a bent elbow so not sure what the yellow cards were for. That ref thought he was the dogs bollocks tonight!

Have a look at Benteke's header that went wide early in the game. He got well up above his marker with his arms down.

Ref was a total c***. First, he looks like Sacha Baron Cohen. Second, there were no dirty or even hard fouls in the game, and yet he insisted on trying to call fouls and give yellows for "infractions" that not even West Ham was complaining about.

Both of Benteke's yellows, the opponent didn't react angrily, or complain at all. I think they were honestly shocked that they were yellows.

Aside from that, I thought it was one of the best games we've played all season. For the first time ever, we bossed West Ham in the first half, had more possession, controlled the ball better, passed better, and generated more chances.

They got a fluke goal, then the ref ruined the game by sending Benteke off.

I'm happy enough with a draw given the circumstances. If we play like that from now on, we will easily be safe.

I actually believe Ogbonnas overreaction to the first challenge hit Benteke booked. Defender was late to challenge on 2 nd booking and actually headed Benteke’s arm.

TBF I think the ball was just slightly behind him, if Townsend could shoot with his right foot, that would have been the obvious thing to do.
Thought we played well but 1 goal was never going to be enough. Pleased with point fuming about another poor ref display. Thought Moyes was excellent after game ( for once)

I would've taken a point gladly before the game and would've bitten your arm off after the sending off.
